Zechariah 7:7-12

7Are not these the words which the Lord 1proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and 2 3prosperous along with its cities around it, and the 4 5Negev and the 6foothills were inhabited?’”

8Then the word of the Lord came to Zechariah saying, 9“Thus has the Lord of hosts said, ‘7Dispense true justice and practice 8kindness and compassion each to his brother; 10and 9do not oppress the widow or the 10orphan, the 11stranger or the poor; and do 12not devise evil in your hearts against one another.’ 11But they 13refused to pay attention and 14 15turned a stubborn shoulder and 16 17stopped their ears from hearing. 12They made their 18hearts like 19 20flint 21so that they could not hear the law and the 22words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the 23former prophets; therefore great 24wrath came from the Lord of hosts.
