9Then Nehemiahנְחֶמְיָ֣הne.chem.YahH5166,whoה֣וּאhu'H1931was thegovernorהַתִּרְשָׁ֡תָאha.tir.Sha.ta'H8660,and Ezraוְעֶזְרָ֣אve.'ez.Ra'H5830the priestהַכֹּהֵ֣ן׀ha.ko.HenH3548andscribeH5613,and the Levitesוְהַלְוִיִּם֩ve.hal.vi.YimH3881who taughtהַמְּבִינִ֨יםha.me.vi.NimH995the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971, “Thisהוּא֙hu'H1931dayהַיּ֤וֹםhai.YomH3117is holyקָדֹֽשׁ־ka.dosh-H6918to the Lordלַיהוָ֣הla.Yah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֵיכֶ֔ם'e.lo.hei.KhemH430;do not mournתִּֽתְאַבְּל֖וּtit.'a.be.LuH56or weepתִּבְכּ֑וּtiv.KuH1058.”For allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971were weepingבוֹכִים֙vo.KhimH1058when they heardכְּשָׁמְעָ֖םke.sha.me.'AmH8085the wordsדִּבְרֵ֥יdiv.ReiH1697of the lawהַתּוֹרָֽה׃ha.to.RahH8451.

10Then he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Goלְכוּ֩le.KhuH1980,eatאִכְל֨וּ'ikh.LuH398of the fatמַשְׁמַנִּ֜יםmash.ma.NimH4924,drinkוּשְׁת֣וּu.she.TuH8354of the sweetמַֽמְתַקִּ֗יםmam.ta.KimH4477, andsendוְשִׁלְח֤וּve.shil.ChuH7971portionsמָנוֹת֙ma.nOtH4490to him who has nothingלְאֵ֣יןle.'EinH369preparedנָכ֣וֹןna.KhonH3559;for this dayהַיּ֖וֹםhai.YomH3117is holyקָד֥וֹשׁka.Do.oshH6918to our LordH136.Do not be grievedתֵּ֣עָצֵ֔בוּte.'a.Tze.vuH6087,for the joyחֶדְוַ֥תched.VatH2304of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068is your strengthמָֽעֻזְּכֶֽם׃Ma.'u.ze.KhemH4581.”

11So the Levitesוְהַלְוִיִּ֞םve.hal.vi.YimH3881calmedמַחְשִׁ֤יםmach.ShimH2814allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971,sayingלֵאמֹ֣רle.MorH559, “Be stillהַ֔סּוּHa.suH2013,for the dayהַיּ֖וֹםhai.YomH3117is holyקָדֹ֑שׁka.DoshH6918;do not be grievedתֵּעָצֵֽבוּ׃te.'a.Tze.vuH6087.”

12Allכָל־khol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971wentוַיֵּלְכ֨וּvai.ye.le.KhuH1980away to eatלֶאֱכֹ֤לle.'e.KholH398,to drinkוְלִשְׁתּוֹת֙ve.lish.tOtH8354,to sendוּלְשַׁלַּ֣חu.le.sha.LachH7971portionsמָנ֔וֹתma.NotH4490and tocelebrateוְלַעֲשׂ֖וֹתve.la.'a.SotH6213a greatגְדוֹלָ֑הge.do.LahH1419festivalשִׂמְחָ֣הsim.ChahH8057,becauseכִּ֤יkiH3588they understoodהֵבִ֙ינוּ֙he.Vi.nuH995the wordsבַּדְּבָרִ֔יםba.de.va.RimH1697whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834had been madeH3045knownH3045to them.

13Then on the secondהַשֵּׁנִ֡יha.she.NiH8145dayוּבַיּ֣וֹםu.vai.YomH3117the headsרָאשֵׁ֨יra.SheiH7218of fathers’הָאָב֜וֹתha.'a.VotH1householdsof allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971,the priestsהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ha.ko.ha.NimH3548and the Levitesוְהַלְוִיִּ֔םve.hal.vi.YimH3881were gatheredנֶאֶסְפוּ֩ne.'es.FuH622to Ezraעֶזְרָ֖א'ez.Ra'H5830the scribeH5613that they might gainH7919insightוּלְהַשְׂכִּ֖ילu.le.has.KilH7919into the wordsדִּבְרֵ֥יdiv.ReiH1697of the lawהַתּוֹרָֽה׃ha.to.RahH8451.

16So the peopleהָעָם֮ha.'AmH5971wentוַיֵּצְא֣וּvai.ye.tze.'UH3318out and broughtוַיָּבִיאוּ֒vai.ya.vi.'UH935themand madeוַיַּעֲשׂוּ֩vai.ya.'a.SuH6213boothsסֻכּ֜וֹתsu.KotH5521for themselves, eachאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376on his roofגַּגּוֹ֙ga.GoH1406,and in their courtsוּבְחַצְרֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔םu.ve.chatz.Ro.tei.HemH2691and in the courtsוּבְחַצְר֖וֹתu.ve.chatz.RotH2691of the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,and in the squareוּבִרְחוֹב֙u.vir.chOvH7339atthe Waterהַמַּ֔יִםha.Ma.yimH4325Gateשַׁ֣עַרSha.'arH8179and in the squareוּבִרְח֖וֹבu.vir.ChovH7339atthe Gateשַׁ֥עַרSha.'arH8179of Ephraimאֶפְרָֽיִם׃'ef.Ra.yimH669.

17The entireכָֽל־khol-H3605assemblyהַ֠קָּהָלHa.ka.holH6951of those who had returnedהַשָּׁבִ֨יםha.sha.VimH7725from the captivityהַשְּׁבִ֥י׀ha.she.ViH7628madeוַיַּֽעֲשׂ֣וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213boothsH5521and livedוַיֵּשְׁב֣וּvai.ye.she.VuH3427inthem. The sonsבִּן־bin-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478had indeedכִּ֣יkiH3588not doneעָשׂ֡וּ'a.SuH6213soכֵּן֙kenH3651from the daysמִימֵי֩mi.MeiH3117of JoshuaH3091the sonבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Nunנ֥וּןnunH5126to that dayהַיּ֣וֹםhai.YomH3117. Andthere was greatגְּדוֹלָ֥הge.do.LahH1419rejoicingשִׂמְחָ֖הsim.ChahH8057.

18He readוַ֠יִּקְרָאVai.yik.ra'H7121from the bookבְּסֵ֨פֶרbe.Se.ferH5612of the lawתּוֹרַ֤תto.RatH8451of Godהָאֱלֹהִים֙ha.'E.lo.HimH430dailyH3117,from the firstהָֽרִאשׁ֔וֹןha.ri.ShonH7223dayH3117to the lastהָאַחֲר֑וֹןha.'a.cha.RonH314dayH3117. And theycelebratedוַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ־vai.ya.'a.su-H6213the feastחָג֙chagH2282sevenשִׁבְעַ֣תshiv.'AtH7651daysH3117, and onthe eighthהַשְּׁמִינִ֛יha.she.mi.NiH8066dayH3117there wasa solemnH6116assemblyעֲצֶ֖רֶת'a.Tze.retH6116according to the ordinanceכַּמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ פka.mish.PatH4941.
