Luke 24:31-51
31Then their 1eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from 2their sight. 32They said to one another, “3Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He 4was 5explaining the Scriptures to us?” 33And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and 6found gathered together the eleven and 7those who were with them, 34saying, “8The Lord has really risen and 9has appeared to Simon.” 35They began to relate 10their experiences on the road and how 11He was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread.
36While they were telling these things, 12He Himself stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be to you.” 37But they were startled and frightened and thought that they were seeing 13a spirit. 38And He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your 14hearts? 3915See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; 16touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41While they still 1718could not believe it because of their joy and amazement, He said to them, “19Have you anything here to eat?” 42They gave Him a piece of a broiled fish; 43and He took it and 20ate it before them.
44Now He said to them, “21These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the 22Law of Moses and the Prophets and 23the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45Then He 24opened their 25minds to understand the Scriptures, 46and He said to them, “26Thus it is written, that the 27Christ would suffer and 28rise again from the dead the third day, 47and that 29repentance 30for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed 31in His name to 32all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48You are 33witnesses of these things. 49And behold, 34I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but 35you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
50And He led them out as far as 36Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51While He was blessing them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven.
