Jonah 2:2-9
2and he said, “I 1called out of my distress to the Lord, And He answered me. I cried for help from the 2depth of 3Sheol; You heard my voice.3For You had 4cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, And the current 5engulfed me. All Your 6breakers and billows passed over me.4So I said, ‘I have been 7expelled from 8Your sight. Nevertheless I will look again 9toward Your holy temple.’510Water encompassed me to the 11point of death. The great 12deep 13engulfed me, Weeds were wrapped around my head.6I 14descended to the roots of the mountains. The earth with its 15bars was around me forever, But You have 16brought up my life from 17the pit, O Lord my God.7While 18I was 19fainting away, I 20remembered the Lord, And my 21prayer came to You, Into 22Your holy temple.8Those who 23regard 24vain idols Forsake their faithfulness,9But I will 25sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving. That which I have vowed I will 26pay. 27Salvation is from the Lord.”
