John 6:35-65

35Jesus said to them, “1I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me 2will never thirst. 36But 3I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe. 374All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. 38For 5I have come down from heaven, 6not to do My own will, but 7the will of Him who 8sent Me. 39This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of 9all that He has given Me I 10lose nothing, but 11raise it up on the last day. 40For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who 12beholds the Son and 13believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will 14raise him up on the last day.”

4115Therefore the Jews were grumbling about Him, because He said, “I am the bread that 16came down out of heaven.” 42They were saying, “17Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother 18we know? How does He now say, ‘19I have come down out of heaven’?” 43Jesus answered and said to them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. 44No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me 20draws him; and I will 21raise him up on the last day. 45It is written 22in the prophets, ‘23And they shall all be 24taught of God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. 4625Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father. 47Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes 26has eternal life. 4827I am the bread of life. 4928Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50This is the bread which 29comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and 30not die. 5131I am the living bread that 32came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, 33he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give 34for the life of the world is 35My flesh.”

5236Then the Jews 37began to argue with one another, saying, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?” 53So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of 38the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. 54He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will 39raise him up on the last day. 55For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood 40abides in Me, and I in him. 57As the 41living Father 42sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. 58This is the bread which 43came down out of heaven; not as 44the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread 45will live forever.” 59These things He said 46in the synagogue as He taught 47in Capernaum.

60Therefore many of His 48disciples, when they heard this said, “49This is a difficult statement; who can listen to it?” 61But Jesus, 50conscious that His disciples grumbled at this, said to them, “Does this 51cause you to stumble? 62What then if you see 52the Son of Man 53ascending to where He was before? 6354It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; 55the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. 64But there are 56some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus 57knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and 58who it was that would 59betray Him. 65And He was saying, “For this reason I have 60said to you, that no one can come to Me unless 61it has been granted him from the Father.”
