Job 15:20-35
20The wicked man writhes 1in pain all his days, And 2numbered are the years 3stored up for the ruthless.214Sounds of 5terror are in his ears; 6While at peace the destroyer comes upon him.22He does not believe that he will 7return from darkness, And he is destined for 8the sword.23He wanders about for food, saying, ‘Where is it?’ He knows that a day of 9darkness is 10at hand.24Distress and anguish terrify him, They overpower him like a king ready for the attack,25Because he has stretched out his hand against God And conducts himself 11arrogantly against 12the Almighty.26He rushes 13headlong at Him With 14his massive shield.27For he has 15covered his face with his fat And made his thighs heavy with flesh.28He has 16lived in desolate cities, In houses no one would inhabit, Which are destined to become 17ruins.29He 18will not become rich, nor will his wealth endure; And his grain will not bend down to the ground.30He will 19not 20escape from darkness; The 21flame will wither his shoots, And by 22the breath of His mouth he will go away.31Let him not 23trust in emptiness, deceiving himself; For emptiness will be his 24reward.32It will be accomplished 25before his time, And his palm 26branch will not be green.33He will drop off his unripe grape like the vine, And will 27cast off his flower like the olive tree.34For the company of 28the godless is barren, And fire consumes 29the tents of 30the corrupt.35They 31conceive 32mischief and bring forth iniquity, And their 33mind prepares deception.”
