Genesis 14:13-24

13Then 1a fugitive came and told Abram the 2Hebrew. Now he was 3living by the 45oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner, and these were 67allies with Abram. 14When Abram heard that 8his 9relative had been taken captive, he 10led out his trained men, 11born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and went in pursuit as far as 12Dan. 1513He divided 14his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and 15defeated them, and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is 16north of 17Damascus. 16He 18brought back all the goods, and also brought back 19his 20relative Lot with his possessions, and also the women, and the people.

17Then after his return from the 21defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, 22the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the valley of Shaveh (that is, 23the King’s Valley). 18And 24Melchizedek king of Salem brought out 25bread and wine; now he was a 26priest of 27God Most High. 19He blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram of 28God Most High, 2930Possessor of heaven and earth;20And blessed be 31God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” 32He gave him a tenth of all. 21The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give the 33people to me and take the goods for yourself.” 22Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have 34sworn to the Lord 3536God Most High, 3738possessor of heaven and earth, 23that 39I will not take a thread or a sandal thong or anything that is yours, for fear you would say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’ 2440I will take nothing except what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me, 41Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their share.”
