Daniel 1:2-4

2The 1Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the 2vessels of the house of God; and he brought them to the land of 3Shinar, to the house of his 4god, and he brought the vessels into the treasury of his 56god.

3Then the king 7ordered Ashpenaz, the chief of his 8officials, to bring in some of the sons of Israel, including some of the 9royal 10family and of the nobles, 4youths in whom was 11no defect, who were good-looking, showing 12intelligence in every branch of wisdom, endowed with understanding and discerning knowledge, and who had ability for 13serving in the king’s 14court; and he ordered him to teach them the 15literature and 16language of the 17Chaldeans.
