Acts 13:17-22

17The God of this people Israel 1chose our fathers and 23made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm 4He led them out from it.

18For 5a period of about forty years 6He put up with them in the wilderness.

197When He had destroyed 8seven nations in the land of Canaan, He 9distributed their land as an inheritance--all of which took 10about four hundred and fifty years.

20After these things He 11gave them judges until 12Samuel the prophet.

21Then they 13asked for a king, and God gave them 14Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.

22After He had 15removed him, He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, ‘16I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My 17will.’
