Context of Luke 10:22
20However, don’t be happy that evil spirits obey you. Be happy that your names are written in heaven.” 21In that hour the Holy Spirit filled Jesus with joy. Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for hiding these things from wise and intelligent people and revealing them to little children. Yes, Father, this is what pleased you. “My Father has turned everything over to me. Only the Father knows who the Son is. And no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son is willing to reveal him.” 23He turned to his disciples in private and said to them, “How blessed you are to see what you’ve seen. 24I can guarantee that many prophets and kings wanted to see and hear what you’ve seen and heard, but they didn’t.”

Commentaries on Luke 10:22
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 22The Codex Alexandrinus, several other very ancient MSS., and some ancient versions, as well as the margin of our own, begin this verse with, And turning to his disciples, he said. But as this clause begins Luke 10:23, it is not likely that it was originally in both. Griesbach has left these words out of the text, and Professor White says, Certissime delenda, "These words should most assuredly be erased." All things are delivered to me - See on Matthew…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 17-24Verses 17-24 All our victories over Satan, are obtained by power derived from Jesus Christ, and he must have all the praise. But let us beware of spiritual pride, which has been the destruction of many. Our Lord rejoiced at the prospect of the salvation of many souls. It was fit that particular notice should be taken of that hour of joy; there were few such, for He was a man of sorrows: in that hour in which he saw Satan fall, and heard of the good…Read the comment

(2) There it was merely "at that time" (or season) that He spoke thus, meaning with a general reference to the rejection of His gospel by the self-sufficient; here, "In that hour Jesus said," with express reference…Read the comment
