Context of Luke 6:10
8But Jesus knew what they were thinking. So he said to the man, ‘Get up and stand in front of everyone.’ The man got up and he stood there. 9Then Jesus said to the people, ‘Let me ask you something. Is it right for us to do good things on our day of rest? Or should we do bad things? Should we save a person's life? Or should we destroy their life?’ Jesus looked round at everyone. Then he said to the man, ‘Lift up your hand.’ When the man lifted his hand, it became well. He could use it again. 11Then the Pharisees and the teachers of God's Law were very angry. They began to talk to each other about what they could do to Jesus. 12One day Jesus went up a mountain to pray. He remained there all night and he was praying to God.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 10Whole as the other - Many MSS., both here and in the parallel place, Mark 3:5, omit the word ̔, whole. Griesbach leaves it out of the text. The hand was restored as the other. But had it only been a luxated joint, even allowing, with a German critic, that the bone regained its place by the effort made to stretch out the arm, without the intervention of a miracle, it would have required several weeks to restore the muscles and ligaments to their wonted…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 6-11Verses 6-11 Christ was neither ashamed nor afraid to own the purposes of his grace. He healed the poor man, though he knew that his enemies would take advantage against him for it. Let us not be drawn either from our duty or from our usefulness by any opposition. We may well be amazed, that the sons of men should be so wicked.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-11The conflicts between Jesus and the religious leaders continued with two disagreements about the Sabbath. The law of Moses required the Jews to rest on the Sabbath (Exodus 20:8–11; Deuteronomy 5:13–14).
