Context of Hebrews 1:10
8But this is what God says to his Son: ‘You are God and you will rule as King for ever! You will rule your kingdom in a completely good way. 9You love everything that is right. And you hate everything that is wrong. Because of that, you will be completely happy. I am your God and I have blessed you. I have chosen you to be greater than others who are with you.’ The Bible also says this: ‘Lord, in the beginning you made the earth. With your own power, you also made everything above the earth. 11All these things will come to an end. But as for you, you will continue for ever. Like clothes, those things will all become old. 12Then you will put them away like an old coat. You will change them, like people change clothes. But you will always continue to be the same. Your life will never come to an end.’

Commentaries on Hebrews 1:10
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 10And, Thou, Lord - This is an address to the Son as the Creator, see Hebrews 1:2; for this is implied in laying the foundation of the earth. The heavens, which are the work of his hands, point out his infinite wisdom and skill.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 10And - That is, “To add another instance;” or, “to the Son he saith in another place, or in the following language.” This is connected with Hebrews 1:8. “Unto the Son he saith Hebrews 1:8, Thy throne,” etc. - and Hebrews 1:10 he “also” saith, “Thou Lord,” etc. That this is the meaning is apparent, because: (1) the “object” of the whole quotation is to show the exalted character of the Son of God, and, (2) an address here to Yahweh would be wholly…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 4-14Verses 4-14 Many Jews had a superstitious or idolatrous respect for angels, because they had received the law and other tidings of the Divine will by their ministry. They looked upon them as mediators between God and men, and some went so far as to pay them a kind of religious homage or worship. Thus it was necessary that the apostle should insist, not only on Christ's being the Creator of all things, and therefore of angels themselves, but as being the…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 10-12These verses, quoting Psalm 102:25–27, celebrate the Son as both the creator and the one who ends creation. All created things will wear out like old clothing, and the Son will discard them (compare Hebrews 2:5; 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1). In contrast, the Son of God will live forever.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1010. And--In another passage (Psa 102:25-27) He says. in the beginning--English Version, Psa 102:25, "of old": Hebrew, "before," "aforetime." The Septuagint, "in the beginning" (as in Ge 1:1) answers by contrast to the end implied in "They shall perish," &c. The Greek order here (not in the Septuagint) is, "Thou in the beginning, O Lord," which throws the "Lord" into emphasis. "Christ is preached even in passages where many might contend that the Father…Read the comment
