Context of John 12:47
45And the one who sees me sees him who sent me. 46I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me would not remain in darkness. If anyone hears my words and doesn’t keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48The one who rejects me and doesn’t receive my sayings has this as his judge: The word I have spoken will judge him on the last day. 49For I have not spoken on my own, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a command to say everything I have said.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 47I judge him not - John 8:15. It was not his present purpose to condemn men. He would come to condemn the guilty at a future time. At present he came to save them. Hence he did not now even pronounce decisively on the condition of those who rejected him, but still gave them an opportunity to be saved.Read the comment

By daily looking to Him, who came a Light into the world, we are more and more freed from the darkness of ignorance, error, sin, and misery; we learn that the command of God our Saviour is everlasting life.
