Context of James 5:8
6You have condemned, you have murdered the righteous, who does not resist you. 7Therefore, brothers and sisters, be patient until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and is patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, because the Lord’s coming is near. 9Brothers and sisters, do not complain about one another, so that you will not be judged. Look, the judge stands at the door! 10Brothers and sisters, take the prophets who spoke in the Lord’s name as an example of suffering and patience.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 7-11Verses 7-11 Consider him that waits for a crop of corn; and will not you wait for a crown of glory? If you should be called to wait longer than the husbandman, is not there something more worth waiting for? In every sense the coming of the Lord drew nigh, and all his people's losses, hardships, and sufferings, would be repaid. Men count time long, because they measure it by their own lives; but all time is as nothing to God; it is as a moment. To…Read the comment
