Context of Acts 3:23
21whom heaven must keep until the time for the [complete] restoration of all things about which God promised through the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time. 22Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your countrymen; you shall listen to Him and obey everything He tells you. And it will be that every person that does not listen to and heed that Prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ 24Indeed, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came after him, also announced these days. 25You are the sons (descendants) of the prophets and [heirs] of the covenant which God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed (descendant) all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’

Commentaries on Acts 3:23
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 23And it shall come to pass - It shall be, or shall occur. This is not the usual word rendered “it shall come to pass.” It is a word commonly expressing “futurity,” but here it conveys the notion of “obligation.” In this verse Peter has not quoted the passage in Deuteronomy literally, but he has given the sense. Every soul - Every “person” or “individual.” Soul is often put for the whole man by the Hebrews, Acts 7:14; Joshua 10:28. Hear that Prophet - That…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 22-26Verses 22-26 Here is a powerful address to warn the Jews of the dreadful consequences of their unbelief, in the very words of Moses, their favourite prophet, out of pretended zeal for whom they were ready to reject Christianity, and to try to destroy it. Christ came into the world to bring a blessing with him. And he sent his Spirit to be the great blessing. Christ came to bless us, by turning us from our iniquities, and saving us from our sins.
