Context of Revelation 10:5
3and he cried out with a loud voice, just as a lion roars. When he cried out, the seven thunders spoke. 4And when the seven thunders had spoken, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said. Do not write it down!” Then the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand toward heaven 6and swore by the One who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, the sea and what is in it, that there would be no more delay. 7But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel—when he is about to trumpet—the mystery of God is completed, just as He declared to His servants the prophets.

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 5-6Raising the right hand is common for taking an oath today, but it is rare in the Bible (compare Genesis 14:22; 24:9; Daniel 12:7).
