Context of Mark 11:10
8Many spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread branches cut from the fields. 9Those going before and those following kept shouting, “Hoshia-na! Baruch ha-ba b’shem Adonai! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hoshia-na in the highest!” 11And He entered Jerusalem and went into the Temple. After looking around at everything, He went out to Bethany with the Twelve, since it was already late. 12The next day, when they had left Bethany, He became hungry.

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 9-10Hosanna: Hosanna comes from a Hebrew expression that means “save, please” or “please save us.” By the first century AD, Hosanna was not used as a literal cry for rescue from enemies. For the people, it was an enthusiastic welcome for a famous traveler, "the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee" (Luke 19:38–40; Matthew 21:11). The miracle of raising…Read the comment
