Context of Luke 5:27
25Immediately he got up before them, picked up what he had been lying on, and went home, glorifying God. 26Astonishment took hold of them, and they glorified God and all were filled with awe, saying, “We’ve seen incredible things today!” After these things, Yeshua went out and observed a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax booth. He said to him, “Follow Me.” 28And leaving everything, he got up and followed Him. 29Levi made a great banquet for Yeshua at his house, and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining with them.

Luke 5:29 Made him a great feast - This circumstance “Matthew,” or “Levi” as he is here called, has omitted in his own gospel. This fact shows how little inclined the evangelists are to say anything in favor of themselves or to praise themselves. True religion does not seek to commend itself, or to speak of what it does, even when it is done for the Son of God. It seeks retirement; it delights rather in the…Read the comment
