Context of Luke 20:14
12And he proceeded to send a third one. They wounded this one too, and they threw him out. 13“Now the master of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love. Probably they will show him respect.’ But when the tenants saw him, they discussed the matter among themselves, saying, ‘This is the heir! Let’s kill him so the inheritance will be ours.’ 15So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the master of the vineyard do to them? 16He will come and destroy those tenants and give the vineyard to others.” But when they heard this, they said, “May it never happen!”

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 9-19Verses 9-19 Christ spake this parable against those who resolved not to own his authority, though the evidence of it was so full. How many resemble the Jews who murdered the prophets and crucified Christ, in their enmity to God, and aversion to his service, desiring to live according to their lusts, without control! Let all who are favoured with God's word, look to it that they make proper use of their advantages. Awful will be the doom, both of those who…Read the comment
