Judges 8:10-27
Now ZebahH2078 and ZalmunnaH6759 were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, aboutH3605 fifteenH6240 thousandH505 menH376, allH3605 that were leftH3498 of allH3605 the hostH4264 of the childrenH1121 of the eastH6924: for there fellH5307 an hundredH3967 and twentyH6242 thousandH505 menH376 that drewH8025 swordH2719.
And GideonH1439 wentH5927 upH5927 by the wayH1870 of them that dweltH7931 in tentsH168 on the eastH6924 of NobahH5025 and JogbehahH3011, and smoteH5221 the hostH4264; for the hostH4264 was secureH983.
And ZebahH2078 and ZalmunnaH6759 fledH5127; and he pursuedH7291 afterH310 them; and he tookH3920 the twoH8147 kingsH4428 of MidianH4080, ZebahH2078 and ZalmunnaH6759, and discomfited allH3605 the hostH4264.
And GideonH1439 the sonH1121 of JoashH3101 returnedH7725 from the battleH4421 from the ascentH4608 of Heres.
And he caughtH3920 a youngH5288 manH376 of the menH376 of SuccothH5523, and inquiredH7592 of him: and he describedH3789 for him the princesH8269 of SuccothH5523, and the eldersH2205 thereof, seventyH7657 and sevenH7651 menH376.
And he cameH935 unto the menH376 of SuccothH5523, and saidH559, BeholdH2009 ZebahH2078 and ZalmunnaH6759, concerning whomH834 ye didH834 tauntH2778 meH413, sayingH559, Are the handsH3027 of ZebahH2078 and ZalmunnaH6759 nowH6258 in thine handH3027, that weH3588 should giveH5414 breadH3899 unto thy menH376 that are wearyH3286?
And he tookH3947 the eldersH2205 of the cityH5892, and thornsH6975 of the wildernessH4057 and briersH1303, and with them he taughtH3045 the menH376 of SuccothH5523.
And he brake downH5422 the towerH4026 of PenuelH6439, and slewH2026 the menH376 of the cityH5892.
Then saidH559 he unto ZebahH2078 and ZalmunnaH6759, WhatH834 manner of menH376 were they whomH834 ye slewH2026 at TaborH8396? And they answeredH559, As thou art, soH834 were they; eachH376 one resembled the childrenH1121 of a kingH4428.
And he saidH559, They were my brethrenH251, the sonsH1121 of my motherH517: as the LORDH3068 liveth, ifH3863 ye had saved them aliveH2416, I would notH3808 slayH2026 youH3808.
And he saidH559 unto JetherH3500 his firstbornH1060, UpH6965, and slayH2026 them. But the youthH5288 drewH8025 notH3808 his swordH2719: for he fearedH3372, becauseH3588 he was yet a youthH5288.
Then ZebahH2078 and ZalmunnaH6759 saidH559, RiseH6965 thou, and fallH6293 uponH6293 usH3588: for as the manH376 is, soH3947 is his strengthH1369. And GideonH1439 aroseH6965, and slewH2026 ZebahH2078 and ZalmunnaH6759, and tookH3947 the crescents that were on their camels’H1581 necksH6677.
Then the menH376 of IsraelH3478 saidH559 unto GideonH1439, RuleH4910 thou over usH413, bothH1571 thou, and thy sonH1121, and thy son’sH1121 sonH1121 also: for thou hast savedH3467 usH413 outH413 of the handH3027 of MidianH4080.
And GideonH1439 saidH559 unto them, I will notH3808 ruleH4910 over youH3808, neitherH3808 shall my sonH1121 ruleH4910 over youH3808: the LORDH3068 shall ruleH4910 over youH3808.
And GideonH1439 saidH559 unto them, I would desire a requestH7592 of youH3588, that ye would giveH5414 meH413 everyH376 manH376 the earringsH5141 of his spoilH7998. (For they had goldenH2091 earringsH5141, becauseH3588 they were IshmaelitesH3459.)
And they answeredH559, WeH8033 will willingly giveH5414 them. And they spreadH6566 a garmentH8071, and didH376 castH7993 therein everyH376 manH376 the earringsH5141 of his spoilH7998.
And the weightH4948 of the goldenH2091 earringsH5141 that he requestedH7592 was a thousandH505 and sevenH7651 hundredH3967 shekelsH4948 of goldH2091; besideH5921 the crescents, and the pendantsH5188, and the purpleH713 raiment that was on the kingsH4428 of MidianH4080, and besideH5921 the chains that were aboutH1961 their camels’H1581 necksH6677.
And GideonH1439 madeH6213 an ephodH646 thereof, and putH3322 it in his cityH5892, evenH853 in OphrahH6084: and allH3605 IsraelH3478 wentH1961 a whoring afterH310 it there: and it becameH1961 a snareH4170 unto GideonH1439, and to his houseH1004.
