Hosea 11
Revised Version 1895
1When IsraelH3478 was a childH5288, then I lovedH157 him, and calledH7121 my sonH1121 out of EgyptH4714. 2As they calledH7121 them, soH3651 they wentH1980 from them: they sacrificedH2076 unto the Baalim, and burnedH6999 incenseH6999 to gravenH6456 imagesH6456. 3Yet I taughtH3045 EphraimH669 to go; I tookH3947 them on my armsH2220; but they knewH3045 notH3808 that I healedH7495 them. 4I drewH4900 them with cordsH5688 of a manH120, with bands of loveH160; and I was to them as they that takeH7311 offH5921 the yokeH5923 on their jawsH3895, and I laid meat beforeH413 them. 5He shall notH3808 returnH7725 intoH413 the landH776 of EgyptH4714; but the Assyrian shall be his kingH4428, becauseH3588 they refusedH3985 to returnH7725. 6And the swordH2719 shall fall upon his citiesH5892, and shall consumeH398 his barsH905, and devourH398 them, because of their own counselsH4156. 7And my peopleH5971 are bentH8511 to backsliding from meH413: though they callH7121 them to him that is on highH7311, noneH3808 at allH3162 will exaltH7311 him. 8HowH349 shall I giveH5414 thee upH5921, EphraimH669? howH349 shall I deliverH5414 thee, IsraelH3478? howH349 shall I makeH7760 thee as AdmahH126? howH349 shall I setH7760 thee as Zeboim? mine heartH3820 is turnedH2015 withinH5921 meH5414, my compassionsH5150 are kindledH3648 togetherH3162. 9I will notH3808 execute the fiercenessH2740 of mine angerH639, I will notH3808 returnH7725 to destroyH7843 EphraimH669: for I am GodH410, and notH3808 manH376; the HolyH6918 One in the midstH7130 of thee: and I will notH3808 enterH935 intoH935 the cityH5892. 10They shall walk afterH310 the LORDH3068, who shall roarH7580 like a lionH738: for he shall roarH7580, and the childrenH1121 shall comeH2729 tremblingH2729 from the westH3220. 11They shall comeH2729 tremblingH2729 as a birdH6833 outH5921 of EgyptH4714, and as a doveH3123 outH5921 of the landH776 of AssyriaH804: and I will makeH2729 them to dwellH3427 in their housesH1004, saith the LORDH3068. 12Ephraim compasseth me about with falsehood, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the Holy One.
