Context of Mark 1:45
43Immediately Jesus sent the man away with a very strong warning. 44He told him, “See that you do not say anything to anyone, but go, show yourself to a priest, and bring the offering that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” But as the man went out he began to announce it publicly and spread the story widely, so that Jesus was no longer able to enter any town openly but stayed outside in remote places. Still they kept coming to him from everywhere.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 45Began to publish it much - Began to publish , many things; probably all that he had heard about our Lord's miraculous works. And to blaze abroad the matter - That is, his own healing; thinking he could never speak too much, nor too well, of him who had thus mercifully and miraculously cleansed him. Jesus could no more openly enter into the city - A city of Galilee, probably Chorazin or Bethsaida, in which he did not appear, for fear of exciting the…Read the comment

If thou wilt - This was an acknowledgment of the almighty power of Jesus, and an appeal to his benevolence. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 40-45Verses 40-45 We have here Christ's cleansing of a leper. It teaches us to apply to the Saviour with great humility, and with full submission to his will, saying, "Lord, if thou wilt," without any doubt of Christ's readiness to help the distressed. See also what to expect from Christ; that according to our faith it shall be to us. The poor leper said, If thou wilt. Christ readily wills favours to those who readily refer themselves to his will. Christ would…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 43-45Jesus instructed the man to visit the priest to confirm his healing and make the required sacrificial offering. This would act as public proof of his healing. Despite the severe warning Jesus gave, the man went and told people what happened to him. As a result, Jesus could not enter the town and had to preach in more remote places. Jesus became widely known, and people from many places came to see him (3:7–8).Read the comment
