Context of Colossians 1:6
4since we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the saints. 5Your faith and love have arisen from the hope laid up for you in heaven, which you have heard about in the message of truth, the gospel that has come to you. Just as in the entire world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, so it has also been bearing fruit and growing among you from the first day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth. 7You learned the gospel from Epaphras, our dear fellow slave – a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf – 8who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

Commentaries on Colossians 1:6
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6Which is come unto you - The doctrine of the Gospel is represented as a traveler, whose object it is to visit the whole habitable earth; and, having commenced his journey in Judea, had proceeded through Syria and through different parts of Asia Minor, and had lately arrived at their city, every where proclaiming glad tidings of great joy to all people. As it is in all the world - So rapid is this traveler in his course, that he had already gone nearly…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 6Which is come unto you - It has not been confined to the Jews, or limited to the narrow country where it was first preached, but has been sent abroad to the Gentile world. The object of the apostle here seems to be, to excite in them a sense of gratitude that the gospel had been sent to them. It was owing entirely to the goodness of God in sending them the gospel, that they had this hope of eternal life. As it is in all the world - It is confined to no…Read the comment
