Lamentations 5:8-16
81Slaves rule over us; There is 2no one to deliver us from their hand.9We get our bread 3at the 4risk of our lives 5Because of the sword in the wilderness.10Our skin has become as 6hot as an oven, Because of 7the burning heat of famine.11They ravished the 8women in Zion, The virgins in the cities of Judah.12Princes were hung by their hands; 910Elders were not respected.13Young men 1112worked at the grinding mill, And youths 13stumbled under loads of wood.14Elders 14are gone from the gate, Young men from their 15music.15The joy of our hearts has 16ceased; Our dancing has been turned into mourning.16The 17crown has fallen from our head; 18Woe to us, for we have sinned!
