Lamentations 4:17-20
17Yet our eyes failed, Looking for 1help was 2useless; In our watching we have watched For a 3nation that could not save.18They 4hunted our steps So that we could not walk in our streets; Our 5end drew near, Our days were 6finished For our end had come.19Our pursuers were 7swifter Than the eagles of the sky; They chased us on the mountains, They waited in ambush for us in the wilderness.20The 8breath of our nostrils, the 9Lord’s anointed, Was 10captured in their pits, Of whom we had said, “Under his 11shadow We shall live among the nations.”
