Hosea 8:8-14
8Israel is 1swallowed up; They are now among the nations Like a 2vessel in which no one delights.9For they have gone up to 3Assyria, Like 4a wild donkey all alone; Ephraim has 5hired 6lovers.10Even though they hire allies among the nations, Now I will 7gather them up; And they will begin 8to 9diminish Because of the burden of the 10king of princes.
11Since Ephraim has 11multiplied altars for sin, They have become altars of sinning for him.12Though 12I wrote for him ten thousand precepts of My 13law, They are regarded as a strange thing.13As for My 14sacrificial gifts, They 15sacrifice the flesh and eat it, But the Lord has taken no delight in them. Now He will 16remember their iniquity, And 17punish them for their sins; They will return to 18Egypt.14For Israel has 19forgotten his Maker and 20built palaces; And Judah has multiplied fortified cities, But I will send a 21fire on its cities that it may consume its palatial dwellings.
