Hosea 4:5-15
5So you will 1stumble by day, And the prophet also will stumble with you by night; And I will destroy your 2mother.63My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have 4rejected knowledge, I also will 5reject you from being My priest. Since you have 6forgotten the 7law of your God, I also will forget your children.
7The more they 8multiplied, the more they sinned against Me; I will 9change their glory into shame.8They 10feed on the 11sin of My people And 12direct their desire toward their iniquity.9And it will be, like people, 13like priest; So I will 14punish them for their ways And repay them for their deeds.1015They will eat, but not have enough; They will 16play the harlot, but not increase, Because they have 1718stopped giving heed to the Lord.
11Harlotry, 19wine and new wine take away the 20understanding.12My people 21consult their wooden idol, and their diviner’s wand informs them; For a spirit of harlotry has led them astray, And they have played the harlot, departing 22from their God.13They offer sacrifices on the 23tops of the mountains And 2425burn incense on the hills, 26Under oak, poplar and terebinth, Because their shade is pleasant. Therefore your daughters play the harlot And your 27brides commit adultery.14I will not punish your daughters when they play the harlot Or your 28brides when they commit adultery, For the men themselves go apart with harlots And offer sacrifices with 29temple prostitutes; So the people without understanding are 30ruined.
15Though you, Israel, play the harlot, Do not let Judah become guilty; Also do not go to 31Gilgal, Or go up to Beth-aven 32And take the oath: “As the Lord lives!”
