Hosea 2:5-9

5For their mother has 1played the harlot; She who conceived them has acted shamefully. For she said, ‘2I will go after my lovers, Who 3give me my bread and my water, My wool and my flax, my 4oil and my drink.’6Therefore, behold, I will 5hedge up 6her way with 7thorns, And I will build 8a wall against her so that she cannot find her 9paths.7She will 10pursue her lovers, but she will not overtake them; And she will seek them, but will not find them. Then she will say, ‘11I will go back to my 12first husband, For it was 13better for me then than now!’

8“For she does 14not know that it was 15I who gave her the grain, the new wine and the oil, And lavished on her silver and gold, Which they 16used for Baal.9Therefore, I will 17take back My grain at 18harvest time And My new wine in its season. I will also take away My wool and My flax Given to cover her nakedness.
