Ecclesiastes 12:8-14

“1Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher, “all is vanity!”

In addition to being a wise man, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge; and he pondered, searched out and arranged 2many proverbs. 10The Preacher sought to find 3delightful words and to write 4words of truth correctly.

The 5words of wise men are like 6goads, and masters of these collections are like 7well-driven 8nails; they are given by one Shepherd. 12But beyond this, my son, be warned: the 9writing of 10many books is endless, and excessive 11devotion to books is wearying to the body.

The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: 12fear God and 13keep His commandments, because this applies to 14every person. 14For 15God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.
