2Because they metקִדְּמ֛וּki.de.MuH6923not the childrenבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478with breadבַּלֶּ֣חֶםba.Le.chemH3899and with waterוּבַמָּ֑יִםu.va.Ma.yimH4325,but hiredוַיִּשְׂכֹּ֨רvai.yis.KorH7936Balaamבִּלְעָם֙bil.'AmH1109against them, that he should curseלְקַֽלְל֔וֹle.ka.LoH7043them: howbeit our Godאֱלֹהֵ֛ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430turnedוַיַּהֲפֹ֧ךְvai.ya.ha.FokhH2015the curseהַקְּלָלָ֖הha.ke.la.LahH7045into a blessingלִבְרָכָֽה׃liv.ra.KhahH1293.

4And beforeוְלִפְנֵ֣יve.lif.NeiH6440this, Eliashibאֶלְיָשִׁיב֙'el.ya.ShivH475the priestהַכֹּהֵ֔ןha.ko.HenH3548,having the oversightנָת֖וּןna.TunH5414of the chamberבְּלִשְׁכַּ֣תbe.lish.KatH3957of the houseבֵּית־beit-H1004of our Godאֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430, wasalliedקָר֖וֹבka.RovH7138unto Tobiahלְטוֹבִיָּֽה׃le.toi.YahH2900:

5And he had preparedוַיַּ֨עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213for him a greatגְדוֹלָ֗הge.do.LahH1419chamberלִשְׁכָּ֣הlish.KahH3957,where aforetimeלְפָנִ֟יםle.fa.NimH6440they laidנֹ֠תְנִיםNo.te.nimH5414the meat offeringsהַמִּנְחָ֨הha.min.ChahH4503,the frankincenseהַלְּבוֹנָ֜הha.le.vo.NahH3828,and the vesselsוְהַכֵּלִ֗יםve.ha.ke.LimH3627,and the tithesוּמַעְשַׂ֤רu.ma'.SarH4643of the cornהַדָּגָן֙ha.da.GanH1715,the new wineהַתִּיר֣וֹשׁha.ti.Ro.oshH8492,and the oilוְהַיִּצְהָ֔רve.hai.yitz.HarH3323,which was commandedמִצְוַת֙mitz.VatH4687to be givento the Levitesהַלְוִיִּ֔םhal.vi.YimH3881,and the singersוְהַמְשֹׁרְרִ֖יםve.ham.sho.re.RimH7891,and the portersוְהַשֹּׁעֲרִ֑יםve.ha.sho.'a.RimH7778;and the offeringsוּתְרוּמַ֖תu.te.ru.MatH8641of the priestsהַכֹּהֲנִֽים׃ha.ko.ha.NimH3548.

7And I cameוָאָב֖וֹאva.'a.Vo'H935to Jerusalemלִֽירוּשָׁלִָ֑םli.ru.sha.LimH3389,and understoodוָאָבִ֣ינָהva.'a.Vi.nahH995of the evilבָרָעָ֗הva.ra.'AhH7451that Eliashibאֶלְיָשִׁיב֙'el.ya.ShivH475didעָשָׂ֤ה'a.SahH6213for Tobiahלְט֣וֹבִיָּ֔הle.Toi.YahH2900,in preparingלַעֲשׂ֥וֹתla.'a.SotH6213him a chamberנִשְׁכָּ֔הnish.KahH5393in the courtsבְּחַצְרֵ֖יbe.chatz.ReiH2691of the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Godהָאֱלֹהִֽים׃ha.'E.lo.HimH430.

8And it grievedH3415me soreמְאֹ֑דme.'OdH3966:therefore I cast forthוָֽאַשְׁלִ֜יכָהva.'ash.Li.khahH7993all the householdבֵית־veit-H1004stuffכְּלֵ֧יke.LeiH3627of Tobiahטוֹבִיָּ֛הtoi.YahH2900out ofהַח֖וּץha.ChutzH2351the chamberהַלִּשְׁכָּֽה׃ha.lish.KahH3957.

9Then I commandedוָאֹ֣מְרָ֔הva.'O.me.RahH559,and they cleansedוַֽיְטַהֲר֖וּvay.ta.ha.RuH2891the chambersהַלְּשָׁכ֑וֹתha.le.sha.KhotH3957:and thither brought I againוָאָשִׁ֣יבָהva.'a.Shi.vahH7725the vesselsכְּלֵי֙ke.LeiH3627of the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,with the meat offeringהַמִּנְחָ֖הha.min.ChahH4503and the frankincenseוְהַלְּבוֹנָֽה׃ פve.ha.le.vo.NahH3828.

10And I perceivedוָאֵ֣דְעָ֔הva.'E.de.'AhH3045that the portionsמְנָי֥וֹתme.na.YotH4521of the Levitesהַלְוִיִּ֖םhal.vi.YimH3881had not been givenנִתָּ֑נָהni.Ta.nahH5414them:for the Levitesהַלְוִיִּ֥םhal.vi.YimH3881and the singersוְהַמְשֹׁרְרִ֖יםve.ham.sho.re.RimH7891,that didעֹשֵׂ֥י'o.SeiH6213the workהַמְּלָאכָֽה׃ha.me.la.KhahH4399,were fledוַיִּבְרְח֧וּvai.yiv.re.ChuH1272every oneאִישׁ־'ish-H376to his fieldלְשָׂדֵ֛הוּle.sa.De.huH7704.

11Then contendedוָאָרִ֙יבָה֙va.'a.Ri.vahH7378I with the rulersהַסְּגָנִ֔יםha.se.ga.NimH5461,and saidוָאֹ֣מְרָ֔הva.'O.me.RahH559,Why is the houseבֵּית־beit-H1004of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430forsakenנֶעֱזַ֣בne.'e.ZavH5800?And I gathered them togetherוָֽאֶ֨קְבְּצֵ֔םva.'Ek.be.TzemH6908,and setוָֽאַעֲמִדֵ֖םva.'a.'a.mi.DemH5975them in their placeעָמְדָֽם׃'a.me.DamH5977.

12Then broughtהֵבִ֜יאוּhe.Vi.'uH935all Judahיְהוּדָ֗הye.hu.DahH3063the titheמַעְשַׂ֧רma'.SarH4643of the cornהַדָּגָ֛ןha.da.GanH1715and the new wineוְהַתִּיר֥וֹשׁve.ha.ti.Ro.oshH8492and the oilוְהַיִּצְהָ֖רve.hai.yitz.HarH3323unto the treasuriesלָאוֹצָרֽוֹת׃la.'o.tza.RotH214.

13And I made treasurersוָאוֹצְרָ֣הva.'otz.RahH686over the treasuriesא֠וֹצָרוֹת'o.tza.rotH214,Shelemiahשֶׁלֶמְיָ֨הshe.lem.YahH8018the priestהַכֹּהֵ֜ןha.ko.HenH3548,and Zadokוְצָד֣וֹקve.tza.DokH6659the scribeהַסּוֹפֵ֗רha.so.FerH5608,and of the Levitesהַלְוִיִּ֔םhal.vi.YimH3881,Pedaiahוּפְדָיָה֙u.fe.da.YahH6305:and next to themיָדָ֔םya.DamH3027wasHananחָנָ֥ןcha.NanH2605the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Zaccurזַכּ֖וּרza.KurH2139,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Mattaniahמַתַּנְיָ֑הma.tan.YahH4983:for they were countedנֶחְשָׁ֔בוּnech.Sha.vuH2803faithfulנֶאֱמָנִים֙ne.'e.ma.NimH539, and their office wasto distributeלַחֲלֹ֥קla.cha.LokH2505unto their brethrenלַאֲחֵיהֶֽם׃ פla.'a.chei.HemH251.

14Rememberזָכְרָה־za.khe.rah-H2142me, O my Godאֱלֹהַ֖י'e.lo.HaiH430,concerning this, and wipe not outתֶּ֣מַחTe.machH4229my goodחֲסָדַ֗יcha.sa.DaiH2617deeds that I have doneעָשִׂ֛יתִי'a.Si.tiH6213for the houseבְּבֵ֥יתbe.VeitH1004of my Godאֱלֹהַ֖י'e.lo.HaiH430,and for the officesוּבְמִשְׁמָרָֽיו׃u.ve.mish.ma.RavH4929thereof.

15In those daysבַּיָּמִ֣יםbai.ya.MimH3117sawרָאִ֣יתִיra.'I.tiH7200I in Judahבִֽיהוּדָ֣ה׀vi.hu.DahH3063sometreadingדֹּֽרְכִֽים־do.re.khim-H1869wine pressesגִּתּ֣וֹת׀gi.TotH1660on the sabbathבַּשַּׁבָּ֡תba.sha.BatH7676,and bringing inוּמְבִיאִ֣יםu.me.vi.'ImH935sheavesהָעֲרֵמ֣וֹתha.'a.re.MotH6194,and ladingוְֽעֹמְסִ֪יםve.'o.me.SimH6006assesהַחֲמֹרִ֟יםha.cha.mo.RimH2543;as also wineיַ֜יִןYa.yinH3196,grapesעֲנָבִ֤ים'a.na.VimH6025,and figsוּתְאֵנִים֙u.te.'e.NimH8384, and all manner ofburdensמַשָּׂ֔אma.Sa'H4853,which they broughtוּמְבִיאִ֥יםu.me.vi.'ImH935into Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֖םye.ru.sha.LimH3389on the sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֑תha.sha.BatH7676dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117:and I testifiedוָאָעִ֕ידva.'a.'IdH5749against themin the dayבְּי֖וֹםbe.YomH3117wherein they soldמִכְרָ֥םmikh.RamH4376victualsצָֽיִד׃Tza.yidH6718.

16There dweltיָ֣שְׁבוּYa.she.vuH3427men of Tyreוְהַצֹּרִים֙ve.ha.tzo.RimH6876also therein, which broughtמְבִיאִ֥יםme.vi.'ImH935fishדָּ֖אגdagH1709,and all manner of wareמֶ֑כֶרMe.kherH4377,and soldוּמֹכְרִ֧יםu.mo.khe.RimH4376on the sabbathבַּשַּׁבָּ֛תba.sha.BatH7676unto the childrenלִבְנֵ֥יliv.NeiH1121of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063,and in Jerusalemוּבִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃u.vi.ru.sha.LimH3389.

17Then I contendedוָאָרִ֕יבָהva.'a.Ri.vahH7378with the noblesחֹרֵ֣יcho.ReiH2715of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063,and saidוָאֹמְרָ֣הva.'o.me.RahH559unto them, What evilהָרָ֤עha.Ra'H7451thingהַדָּבָ֨רha.da.VarH1697isthis that ye doעֹשִׂ֔ים'o.SimH6213,and profaneוּֽמְחַלְּלִ֖יםu.me.cha.le.LimH2490the sabbathהַשַּׁבָּֽת׃ha.sha.BatH7676dayי֥וֹםYomH3117?

18Didעָשׂוּ֙'a.SuH6213not your fathersאֲבֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם'a.Vo.tei.KhemH1thus, and didH935not our Godאֱלֹהֵ֜ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430bringH935all this evilהָרָעָ֣הha.ra.'AhH7451upon us, and upon this cityהָעִ֣ירha.'IrH5892?yet ye bringH935moreמוֹסִיפִ֤יםmo.si.FimH3254wrathחָרוֹן֙cha.rOnH2740upon Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478by profaningלְחַלֵּ֖לle.cha.LelH2490the sabbathהַשַּׁבָּֽת׃ פha.sha.BatH7676.

19And it came to pass, that when the gatesשַׁעֲרֵ֨יsha.'a.ReiH8179of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֜םye.ru.sha.LimH3389began to be darkצָֽלֲלוּ֩tza.la.LuH6751beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֗תha.sha.BatH7676,I commandedוָאֹֽמְרָה֙va.'o.me.RahH559that the gatesהַדְּלָת֔וֹתha.de.la.TotH1817should be shutוַיִּסָּגְר֣וּvai.yi.sa.ge.RuH5462,and chargedוָאֹ֣מְרָ֔הva.'O.me.RahH559that they should not be openedיִפְתָּח֔וּםyif.ta.ChumH6605till afterאַחַ֣ר'a.CharH310the sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֑תha.sha.BatH7676: and someof my servantsוּמִנְּעָרַ֗יu.mi.ne.'a.RaiH5288setהֶֽעֱמַ֙דְתִּי֙he.'e.Mad.tiH5975I at the gatesהַשְּׁעָרִ֔יםha.she.'a.RimH8179, thatthere should no burdenמַשָּׂ֖אma.Sa'H4853be brought inיָב֥וֹאya.Vo'H935on the sabbathהַשַּׁבָּֽת׃ha.sha.BatH7676dayבְּי֥וֹםbe.YomH3117.

20So the merchantsהָרֹכְלִ֜יםha.ro.khe.LimH7402and sellersוּמֹכְרֵ֧יu.mo.khe.ReiH4376of all kind of wareמִמְכָּ֛רmi.KarH4465lodgedוַיָּלִ֨ינוּvai.ya.Li.nuH3885withoutמִח֥וּץmi.ChutzH2351Jerusalemלִירוּשָׁלִָ֖םli.ru.sha.LimH3389onceפַּ֥עַםPa.'amH6471or twiceוּשְׁתָּֽיִם׃u.she.Ta.yimH8147.

21Then I testifiedוָאָעִ֣ידָהva.'a.'I.dahH5749against them, and saidוָאֹמְרָ֤הva.'o.me.RahH559unto them, Why lodgeלֵנִים֙le.NimH3885ye aboutנֶ֣גֶדNe.gedH5048the wallהַחוֹמָ֔הha.cho.MahH2346? if ye do soagainתִּשְׁנ֕וּtish.NuH8138,I will layאֶשְׁלַ֣ח'esh.LachH7971handsיָ֖דyadH3027on you. From that timeהָעֵ֣תha.'EtH6256forth cameבָ֖אוּVa.'uH935they no moreon the sabbathבַּשַּׁבָּֽת׃ סba.sha.BatH7676.

22And I commandedוָאֹמְרָ֣הva.'o.me.RahH559the Levitesלַלְוִיִּ֗םlal.vi.YimH3881that they should cleanseמִֽטַּהֲרִים֙mi.ta.ha.RimH2891themselves, and thatthey should comeוּבָאִים֙u.va.'ImH935andkeepשֹׁמְרִ֣יםsho.me.RimH8104the gatesהַשְּׁעָרִ֔יםha.she.'a.RimH8179,to sanctifyלְקַדֵּ֖שׁle.ka.DeshH6942the sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֑תha.sha.BatH7676dayי֣וֹםYomH3117.Rememberזָכְרָה־za.khe.rah-H2142me, O my Godאֱלֹהַ֔י'e.lo.HaiH430, concerningthis also, and spareוְח֥וּסָהve.Chu.sahH2347me according to the greatnessכְּרֹ֥בke.RoH7230of thy mercyחַסְדֶּֽךָ׃ פchas.De.khaH2617.

23In those daysבַּיָּמִ֣יםbai.ya.MimH3117also sawרָאִ֤יתִיra.'I.tiH7200I Jewsהַיְּהוּדִים֙hai.ye.hu.DimH3064thathad marriedהֹשִׁ֗יבוּho.Shi.vuH3427wivesנָשִׁים֙na.ShimH802of Ashdodאַשְׁדֳּדִיּ֔וֹת'ash.do.di.yotH796,of Ammonעַמֳּנִיּ֖וֹתa.mo.ni.yotH5984, andof Moabמוֹאֲבִיּֽוֹת׃mo.'a.vi.YotH4125:

24And their childrenוּבְנֵיהֶ֗םu.ve.nei.HemH1121spakeמְדַבֵּ֣רme.da.BerH1696halfחֲצִי֙cha.TziH2677in the speech of Ashdodאַשְׁדּוֹדִ֔ית'ash.do.DitH797,and couldמַכִּירִ֖יםma.ki.RimH5234not speakלְדַבֵּ֣רle.da.BerH1696in the Jews’ languageיְהוּדִ֑יתye.hu.DitH3066,but according to the languageוְכִלְשׁ֖וֹןve.khil.ShonH3956of eachעַ֥ם'amH5971peopleוָעָֽם׃va.'AmH5971.

25And I contendedוָאָרִ֤יבva.'a.RivH7378with them, and cursedוָאֲקַֽלְלֵ֔םva.'a.ka.LemH7043them, and smoteוָאַכֶּ֥הva.'a.KehH5221certainאֲנָשִׁ֖ים'a.na.ShimH582of them, and plucked off their hairוָֽאֶמְרְטֵ֑םva.'em.re.TemH4803,and made them swearוָאַשְׁבִּיעֵ֣םva.'ash.bi.'EmH7650by Godבֵּֽאלֹהִ֗יםbe.lo.HimH430, saying,Ye shall not giveתִּתְּנ֤וּti.te.NuH5414your daughtersבְנֹֽתֵיכֶם֙ve.no.tei.KhemH1323unto their sonsלִבְנֵיהֶ֔םliv.nei.HemH1121,nor takeתִּשְׂאוּ֙tis.'UH5375their daughtersמִבְּנֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔םmi.be.No.tei.HemH1323unto your sonsלִבְנֵיכֶ֖םliv.nei.KhemH1121, or for yourselves.

26Did not Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֣הshe.lo.MohH8010kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֡לYis.ra.'ElH3478sinחָטָֽא־cha.ta'-H2398by these things? yet among manyהָרַבִּים֩ha.ra.BimH7227nationsוּבַגּוֹיִ֣םu.va.go.YimH1471was there no kingמֶ֜לֶךְMe.lekhH4428like him, who was belovedוְאָה֤וּבve.'a.HuvH157of his Godלֵֽאלֹהָיו֙le.lo.HavH430,and Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430madeוַיִּתְּנֵ֣הוּvai.yi.te.Ne.huH5414him kingמֶ֖לֶךְMe.lekhH4428over all Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478:nevertheless even himגַּם־gam-H1571did outlandishהַנָּכְרִיּֽוֹת׃ha.na.khe.ri.YotH5237womenהַנָּשִׁ֖יםha.na.ShimH802cause to sinהֶחֱטִ֔יאוּhe.che.Ti.'uH2398.

27Shall we then hearkenהֲנִשְׁמַ֗עha.nish.Ma'H8085unto you to doלַעֲשֹׂת֙la.'a.SotH6213all this greatהַגְּדוֹלָה֙ha.ge.do.LahH1419evilהָרָעָ֤הha.ra.'AhH7451,to transgressלִמְעֹ֖לlim.'OlH4603against our Godבֵּֽאלֹהֵ֑ינוּbe.lo.Hei.nuH430in marryingלְהֹשִׁ֖יבle.ho.ShivH3427strangeנָכְרִיּֽוֹת׃na.khe.ri.YotH5237wivesנָשִׁ֥יםna.ShimH802?

28And oneof the sonsוּמִבְּנֵ֨יu.mi.be.NeiH1121of Joiadaיוֹיָדָ֤עyo.ya.Da'H3111,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Eliashibאֶלְיָשִׁיב֙'el.ya.ShivH475the highהַגָּד֔וֹלha.ga.DolH1419priestהַכֹּהֵ֣ןha.ko.HenH3548, wasson in lawחָתָ֖ןcha.TanH2860to Sanballatלְסַנְבַלַּ֣טle.san.va.LatH5571the Horoniteהַחֹרֹנִ֑יha.cho.ro.NiH2772:therefore I chasedוָאַבְרִיחֵ֖הוּva.'av.ri.Che.huH1272him from me.

29Rememberזָכְרָ֥הza.khe.RahH2142them, O my Godאֱלֹהָ֑י'e.lo.HaiH430,because they have defiledגָּאֳלֵ֣יgo.'o.LeiH1352the priesthoodהַכְּהֻנָּ֔הha.ke.hu.NahH3550,and the covenantוּבְרִ֥יתu.ve.RitH1285of the priesthoodהַכְּהֻנָּ֖הha.ke.hu.NahH3550,and of the Levitesוְהַלְוִיִּֽם׃ve.hal.vi.YimH3881.

30Thus cleansedוְטִֽהַרְתִּ֖יםve.ti.har.TimH2891I them from all strangersנֵכָ֑רne.KharH5236,and appointedוָאַעֲמִ֧ידָהva.'a.'a.Mi.dahH5975the wardsמִשְׁמָר֛וֹתmish.ma.RotH4931of the priestsלַכֹּהֲנִ֥יםla.ko.ha.NimH3548and the Levitesוְלַלְוִיִּ֖םve.lal.vi.YimH3881,every oneאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376in his businessבִּמְלַאכְתּֽוֹ׃bim.lakh.ToH4399;
