8And it fell on a dayהַיּ֜וֹםhai.YomH3117,that Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֣ע'e.li.Sha'H477passedוַיַּעֲבֹ֧רvai.ya.'a.VorH5674to Shunemשׁוּנֵ֗םshu.NemH7766, where wasa greatגְדוֹלָ֔הge.do.LahH1419womanאִשָּׁ֣ה'i.ShahH802;and she constrainedוַתַּחֲזֶק־va.ta.cha.zek-H2388him to eatלֶאֱכָל־le.'e.khol-H398breadלָ֑חֶםLa.chemH3899. And so it was, thatas oftמִדֵּ֣יmi.DeiH1767as he passed byעָבְר֔וֹa.ve.RoH5674,he turnedיָסֻ֥רya.SurH5493in thither to eatלֶאֱכָל־le.'e.khol-H398breadלָֽחֶם׃La.chemH3899.

9And she saidוַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙va.To.merH559unto her husbandאִישָׁ֔הּ'i.ShahH376,Behold now, I perceiveיָדַ֔עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045that this isan holyקָד֣וֹשׁka.Do.oshH6918manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376of Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430,which passethעֹבֵ֥ר'o.VerH5674by us continuallyתָּמִֽיד׃ta.MidH8548.

10Let us makeנַֽעֲשֶׂה־na.'a.seh-H6213a littleקְטַנָּ֔הke.ta.NahH6996chamberעֲלִיַּת־'a.li.yat-H5944,I pray thee, on the wallקִיר֙kirH7023;and let us setוְנָשִׂ֨יםve.na.SimH7760for him there a bedמִטָּ֥הmi.TahH4296,and a tableוְשֻׁלְחָ֖ןve.shul.ChanH7979,and a stoolוְכִסֵּ֣אve.khi.Se'H3678,and a candlestickוּמְנוֹרָ֑הu.me.no.RahH4501:and it shall be, when he comethבְּבֹא֥וֹbe.vo.'OH935to us, that he shall turnיָס֥וּרya.SurH5493in thither.

11And it fell on a dayהַיּ֖וֹםhai.YomH3117,that he cameוַיָּ֣בֹאvai.Ya.vo'H935thither, and he turnedוַיָּ֥סַרvai.Ya.sarH5493into the chamberהָעֲלִיָּ֖הha.'a.li.YahH5944,and layוַיִּשְׁכַּב־vai.yish.kav-H7901there.

12And he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559to Gehaziגֵּחֲזִ֣יge.cha.ZiH1522his servantנַעֲר֔וֹna.'a.RoH5288,Callקְרָ֖אke.Ra'H7121this Shunammiteלַשּׁוּנַמִּ֣יתla.shu.na.MitH7767.And when he had calledוַיִּקְרָא־vai.yik.ra'-H7121her, she stoodוַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖דva.ta.'a.ModH5975beforeלְפָנָֽיו׃le.fa.NavH6440him.

13And he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Sayאֱמָר־'e.mor-H559now unto her, Behold, thou hast been carefulחָרַ֣דְתְּ׀cha.RadtH2729for us with all this careהַחֲרָדָ֣הha.cha.ra.DahH2731; what isto be doneלַעֲשׂ֣וֹתla.'a.SotH6213for thee? wouldestהֲיֵ֤שׁha.YeshH3426thou be spokenלְדַבֶּר־le.da.ber-H1696for to the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,or to the captainשַׂ֣רsarH8269of the hostהַצָּבָ֑אha.tza.Va'H6635?And she answeredוַתֹּ֕אמֶרva.To.merH559,I dwellיֹשָֽׁבֶת׃yo.Sha.vetH3427amongבְּת֥וֹךְbe.TokhH8432mine own peopleעַמִּ֖י'a.MiH5971.

14And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, What then isto be doneלַעֲשׂ֣וֹתla.'a.SotH6213for her? And Gehaziגֵּיחֲזִ֗יgei.cha.ZiH1522answeredוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Verilyאֲבָ֛ל'a.ValH61she hath no childבֵּ֥ןbenH1121,and her husbandוְאִישָׁ֥הּve.'i.ShahH376is oldזָקֵֽן׃za.KenH2204.

15And he saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Callקְרָא־ke.ra'-H7121her. And when he had calledוַיִּקְרָא־vai.yik.ra'-H7121her, she stoodוַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖דva.ta.'a.ModH5975in the doorבַּפָּֽתַח׃ba.Pa.tachH6607.

16And he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,About this seasonלַמּוֹעֵ֤דla.mo.'EdH4150,according to the timeכָּעֵ֣תka.'EtH6256of lifeחַיָּ֔הchai.YahH2416,thou shalt embraceחֹבֶ֣קֶתcho.Ve.ketH2263a sonבֵּ֑ןBenH1121.And she saidוַתֹּ֗אמֶרva.To.merH559,Nay, my lordאֲדֹנִי֙'a.do.NiH113, thoumanאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,do not lieתְּכַזֵּ֖בte.kha.ZevH3576unto thine handmaidבְּשִׁפְחָתֶֽךָ׃be.shif.cha.Te.khaH8198.

17And the womanהָאִשָּׁ֖הha.'i.ShahH802conceivedוַתַּ֥הַרva.Ta.harH2029,and bareוַתֵּ֣לֶדva.Te.ledH3205a sonבֵּ֑ןBenH1121at that seasonלַמּוֹעֵ֤דla.mo.'EdH4150that Elishaאֱלִישָֽׁע׃'e.li.Sha'H477had saidדִּבֶּ֥רdi.BerH1696unto her, according to the timeכָּעֵ֣תka.'EtH6256of lifeחַיָּ֔הchai.YahH2416.

18And when the childהַיָּ֑לֶדhai.Ya.ledH3206was grownוַיִּגְדַּ֖לvai.yig.DalH1431,it fell on a dayהַיּ֔וֹםhai.YomH3117,that he went outוַיֵּצֵ֥אvai.ye.Tze'H3318to his fatherאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1to the reapersהַקֹּצְרִֽים׃ha.ko.tze.RimH7114.

19And he saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto his fatherאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1,My headרֹאשִׁ֣י׀ro.ShiH7218,my headרֹאשִׁ֑יro.ShiH7218.And he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559to a ladהַנַּ֔עַרha.Na.'arH5288,Carryשָׂאֵ֖הוּsa.'E.huH5375him to his motherאִמּֽוֹ׃'i.MoH517.

20And when he had takenוַיִּשָּׂאֵ֔הוּvai.yi.sa.'E.huH5375him, and broughtוַיְבִיאֵ֖הוּvay.vi.'E.huH935him to his motherאִמּ֑וֹ'i.MoH517,he satוַיֵּ֧שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427on her kneesבִּרְכֶּ֛יהָbir.Kei.haH1290till noonהַֽצָּהֳרַ֖יִםha.tzo.ho.Ra.yimH6672, and thendiedוַיָּמֹֽת׃vai.ya.MotH4191.

21And she went upוַתַּ֙עַל֙va.Ta.'alH5927,and laidוַתַּשְׁכִּבֵ֔הוּva.tash.ki.Ve.huH7901him on the bedמִטַּ֖תmi.TatH4296of the manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,and shutוַתִּסְגֹּ֥רva.tis.GorH5462the doorupon him, and went outוַתֵּצֵֽא׃va.te.Tze'H3318.

22And she calledוַתִּקְרָא֮va.tik.Ra'H7121unto her husbandאִישָׁהּ֒'i.ShahH376,and saidוַתֹּ֗אמֶרva.To.merH559,Sendשִׁלְחָ֨הshil.ChahH7971me, I pray thee, oneאֶחָ֣ד'e.ChadH259of the young menהַנְּעָרִ֔יםha.ne.'a.RimH5288,and oneוְאַחַ֖תve.'a.ChatH259of the assesהָאֲתֹנ֑וֹתha.'a.to.NotH860,that I may runוְאָר֛וּצָהve.'a.Ru.tzahH7323to the manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,and come againוְאָשֽׁוּבָה׃ve.'a.Shu.vahH7725.

23And he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Wherefore wilt thou goהֹלֶ֤כֶתho.lakh.tiH1980to him to dayהַיּ֔וֹםhai.YomH3117? it isneither new moonחֹ֖דֶשׁCho.deshH2320,nor sabbathשַׁבָּ֑תsha.BatH7676.And she saidוַתֹּ֖אמֶרva.To.merH559, It shall bewellשָׁלֽוֹם׃sha.LomH7965.

24Then she saddledוַֽתַּחֲבֹשׁ֙va.ta.cha.VoshH2280an assהָֽאָת֔וֹןha.'a.TonH860,and saidוַתֹּ֥אמֶרva.To.merH559to her servantנַעֲרָ֖הּna.'a.RahH5288,Driveנְהַ֣גne.HagH5090,and go forwardH3212;slackתַּעֲצָר־ta.'a.tzor-H6113not thyridingלִרְכֹּ֔בlir.KoH7392for me, except I bidאָמַ֥רְתִּי'a.Mar.tiH559thee.

25So she wentH3212and cameוַתָּב֛וֹאva.ta.Vo'H935unto the manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430to mountהַ֣רharH2022Carmelהַכַּרְמֶ֑לha.kar.MelH3760.And it came to pass, when the manאִישׁ־'ish-H376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֤יםha.'E.lo.HimH430saw her afar offכִּרְא֨וֹתkir.'otH7200,that he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559to Gehaziגֵּיחֲזִ֣יgei.cha.ZiH1522his servantנַעֲר֔וֹna.'a.RoH5288, Behold, yonder isthatהַלָּֽז׃ha.LazH1975Shunammiteהַשּׁוּנַמִּ֥יתha.shu.na.MitH7767:

26Runרֽוּץ־rutz-H7323now, I pray thee, to meetH7125her, and sayוֶאֱמָר־ve.'e.mor-H559unto her, Is itwellהֲשָׁל֥וֹםha.sha.LomH7965with thee? is itwellהֲשָׁל֥וֹםha.sha.LomH7965with thy husbandלְאִישֵׁ֖ךְle.'i.ShekhH376? is itwellהֲשָׁל֣וֹםha.sha.LomH7965with the childלַיָּ֑לֶדlai.Ya.ledH3206?And she answeredוַתֹּ֖אמֶרva.To.merH559, It iswellשָׁלֽוֹם׃sha.LomH7965.

27And when she cameוַתָּבֹ֞אva.ta.Vo'H935to the manאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ha.'E.lo.HimH430to the hillהָהָ֔רha.HarH2022,she caughtוַֽתַּחֲזֵ֖קva.ta.cha.ZekH2388him by the feetבְּרַגְלָ֑יוbe.rag.LavH7272:but Gehaziגֵּֽיחֲזִ֜יgei.cha.ZiH1522came nearוַיִּגַּ֨שׁvai.yi.GashH5066to thrust her awayלְהָדְפָ֗הּle.ha.de.FahH1920.And the manאִ֨ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֤יםha.'E.lo.HimH430saidוַיֹּאמֶר֩vai.yo.MerH559,Let her aloneהַרְפֵּֽה־har.peh-H7503;for her soulנַפְשָׁ֣הּnaf.ShahH5315isvexedמָֽרָה־ma.rah-H4843within her: and the Lordוַֽיהוָה֙va.Yah.wehH3068hath hidהֶעְלִ֣יםhe'.LimH5956itfrom me, and hath not toldהִגִּ֖ידhi.GidH5046me.

28Then she saidוַתֹּ֕אמֶרva.To.merH559,Did I desireהֲשָׁאַ֥לְתִּיha.sha.'Al.tiH7592a sonבֵ֖ןvenH1121of my lordאֲדֹנִ֑י'a.do.NiH113?did I not sayאָמַ֔רְתִּי'a.Mar.tiH559,Do not deceiveתַשְׁלֶ֖הtash.LehH7952me?

29Then he saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Gehaziלְגֵיחֲזִ֜יle.gei.cha.ZiH1522,Gird upחֲגֹ֣רcha.GorH2296thy loinsמָתְנֶ֗יךָma.te.Nei.khaH4975,and takeוְקַ֨חve.KachH3947my staffמִשְׁעַנְתִּ֣יmish.'an.TiH4938in thine handבְיָדְךָ֮ve.ya.de.KhaH3027,and go thy wayH3212:if thou meetתִמְצָ֥אtim.Tza'H4672any manאִישׁ֙'ishH376,saluteתְבָרְכֶ֔נּוּte.va.re.Khe.nuH1288him not; and if anyאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376saluteיְבָרֶכְךָ֥ye.va.rekh.KhaH1288thee, answer him not againתַעֲנֶנּ֑וּta.'a.ne.NuH6030:and layוְשַׂמְתָּ֥ve.sam.TaH7760my staffמִשְׁעַנְתִּ֖יmish.'an.TiH4938upon the faceפְּנֵ֥יpe.NeiH6440of the childהַנָּֽעַר׃ha.Na.'arH5288.

30And the motherאֵ֣ם'emH517of the childהַנַּ֔עַרha.Na.'arH5288saidוַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙va.To.merH559, Asthe Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068livethחַי־chai-H2416, and asthy soulנַפְשְׁךָ֖naf.she.KhaH5315livethוְחֵֽי־ve.chei-H2416,I will not leaveאֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ'e.'ez.Ve.kaH5800thee. And he aroseוַיָּ֖קָםvai.Ya.komH6965,and followedאַחֲרֶֽיהָ׃'a.cha.Rei.haH310 H3212her.

31And Gehaziוְגֵחֲזִ֞יve.ge.cha.ZiH1522passed onעָבַ֣ר'a.VarH5674beforeלִפְנֵיהֶ֗םlif.nei.HemH6440them, and laidוַיָּ֤שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760the staffהַמִּשְׁעֶ֙נֶת֙ha.mish.'E.netH4938upon the faceפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440of the childהַנַּ֔עַרha.Na.'arH5288; but there wasneither voiceק֖וֹלKolH6963,nor hearingקָ֑שֶׁבKa.shevH7182.Wherefore he went againוַיָּ֤שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725to meetH7125him, and toldוַיַּגֶּד־vai.ya.ged-H5046him, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559,The childהַנָּֽעַר׃ha.Na.'arH5288is not awakedהֵקִ֖יץhe.KitzH6974.

32And when Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֖ע'e.li.Sha'H477was comeוַיָּבֹ֥אvai.ya.Vo'H935into the houseהַבָּ֑יְתָהha.Ba.ye.tahH1004,behold, the childהַנַּ֙עַר֙ha.Na.'arH5288was deadמֵ֔תMetH4191, andlaidמֻשְׁכָּ֖בmush.KavH7901upon his bedמִטָּתֽוֹ׃mi.ta.ToH4296.

33He went inוַיָּבֹ֕אvai.ya.Vo'H935therefore, and shutוַיִּסְגֹּ֥רvai.yis.GorH5462the doorהַדֶּ֖לֶתha.De.letH1817upon them twainשְׁנֵיהֶ֑םshe.nei.HemH8147,and prayedוַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֖לvai.yit.pa.LelH6419unto the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

34And he went upוַיַּ֜עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927,and layוַיִּשְׁכַּ֣בvai.yish.KavH7901upon the childהַיֶּ֗לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206,and putוַיָּשֶׂם֩vai.ya.SemH7760his mouthפִּ֨יוpivH6310upon his mouthפִּ֜יוpivH6310,and his eyesוְעֵינָ֤יוve.'ei.NavH5869upon his eyesעֵינָיו֙'ei.NavH5869,and his handsוְכַפָּ֣יוve.kha.PavH3709upon his handsכַּפָּ֔יוka.povH3709:and he stretchedוַיִּגְהַ֖רvai.yig.HarH1457himself upon the child; and the fleshבְּשַׂ֥רbe.SarH1320of the childהַיָּֽלֶד׃hai.Ya.ledH3206waxed warmוַיָּ֖חָםvai.Ya.chomH2552.

35Then he returnedוַיָּ֜שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725,and walkedH3212in the houseבַּבַּ֗יִתba.Ba.yitH1004toאַחַ֥ת הֵ֙נָּה֙'a.Chat he.nahH2008 H259and froוְאַחַ֣ת הֵ֔נָּהve.'a.Chat He.nahH2008 H259;and went upוַיַּ֖עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927,and stretchedוַיִּגְהַ֣רvai.yig.HarH1457himself upon him: and the childהַנַּ֙עַר֙ha.Na.'arH5288sneezedוַיְזוֹרֵ֤רvay.zo.RerH2237sevenשֶׁ֣בַעShe.va'H7651timesפְּעָמִ֔יםpe.'a.MimH6471,and the childהַנַּ֖עַרha.Na.'arH5288openedוַיִּפְקַ֥חvai.yif.KachH6491his eyesעֵינָֽיו׃'ei.NavH5869.

36And he calledוַיִּקְרָ֣אvai.yik.Ra'H7121Gehaziגֵּיחֲזִ֗יgei.cha.ZiH1522,and saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559,Callקְרָא֙ke.Ra'H7121this Shunammiteהַשֻּׁנַמִּ֣יתha.shu.na.MitH7767.So he calledוַיִּקְרָאֶ֖הָvai.yik.ra.'E.haH7121her. And when she was come inוַתָּב֣וֹאva.ta.Vo'H935unto him, he saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Take upשְׂאִ֥יse.'IH5375thy sonבְנֵֽךְ׃ve.NekhH1121.

37Then she went inוַתָּבֹא֙va.ta.Vo'H935,and fellוַתִּפֹּ֣לva.ti.PolH5307at his feetרַגְלָ֔יוrag.LavH7272,and bowedוַתִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּva.tish.Ta.chuH7812herself to the groundאָ֑רְצָה'A.re.tzahH776,and took upוַתִּשָּׂ֥אva.ti.Sa'H5375her sonבְּנָ֖הּbe.NahH1121,and went outוַתֵּצֵֽא׃ פva.te.Tze'H3318.

38And Elishaוֶאֱלִישָׁ֞עve.'e.li.Sha'H477came againשָׁ֤בshavH7725to Gilgalהַגִּלְגָּ֙לָה֙ha.gil.Ga.lahH1537: and there wasa dearthוְהָרָעָ֣בve.ha.ra.'AvH7458in the landבָּאָ֔רֶץba.'A.retzH776;and the sonsוּבְנֵי֙u.ve.NeiH1121of the prophetsהַנְּבִיאִ֔יםha.ne.vi.'ImH5030weresittingיֹשְׁבִ֖יםyo.she.VimH3427beforeלְפָנָ֑יוle.fa.NavH6440him: and he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto his servantלְנַעֲר֗וֹle.na.'a.RoH5288,Setשְׁפֹת֙she.FotH8239on the greatהַגְּדוֹלָ֔הha.ge.do.LahH1419potהַסִּ֣ירha.SirH5518,and seetheוּבַשֵּׁ֥לu.va.ShelH1310pottageנָזִ֖ידna.ZidH5138for the sonsלִבְנֵ֥יliv.NeiH1121of the prophetsהַנְּבִיאִֽים׃ha.ne.vi.'ImH5030.
