5Then the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֖וּר'a.ShurH804came upוַיַּ֥עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927throughout all the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776,and went upוַיַּ֙עַל֙vai.Ya.'alH5927to Samariaשֹׁמְר֔וֹןsho.me.RonH8111,and besiegedוַיָּ֥צַרvai.Ya.tzarH6696it threeשָׁלֹ֥שׁsha.LoshH7969yearsשָׁנִֽים׃sha.NimH8141.

6In the ninthהַתְּשִׁיעִ֜יתha.te.shi.'ItH8671yearבִּשְׁנַ֨תbish.NatH8141of Hosheaלְהוֹשֵׁ֗עַle.ho.She.a'H1954the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁוּר֙'a.ShurH804tookלָכַ֤דla.KhadH3920Samariaשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹןsho.me.RonH8111,and carriedH1540Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478awayH1540into Assyriaאַשּׁ֑וּרָה'a.Shu.rahH804,and placedוַיֹּ֨שֶׁבvai.Yo.shevH3427them in Halahבַּחְלַ֧חbach.LachH2477and in Haborוּבְחָב֛וֹרu.ve.cha.VorH2249bythe riverנְהַ֥רne.HarH5104of Gozanגּוֹזָ֖ןgo.ZanH1470,and in the citiesוְעָרֵ֥יve.'a.ReiH5892of the Medesמָדָֽי׃ פma.DaiH4074.

7For soit was, that the childrenבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478had sinnedחָטְא֤וּcha.te.'UH2398against the Lordלַיהוָ֣הla.Yah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶ֔ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430,which had brought them upהַמַּעֲלֶ֤הha.ma.'a.LehH5927out of the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,from under the handיַ֖דyadH3027of Pharaohפַּרְעֹ֣הpar.'OhH6547kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Egyptמִצְרָ֑יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,and had fearedוַיִּֽירְא֖וּvai.yi.re.'UH3372otherאֲחֵרִֽים׃'a.che.RimH312godsאֱלֹהִ֥ים'E.lo.HimH430,

8And walkedH3212in the statutesבְּחֻקּ֣וֹתbe.chu.KotH2708of the heathenהַגּוֹיִ֔םha.go.YimH1471,whom the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068cast outהוֹרִ֣ישׁho.RishH3423from beforeמִפְּנֵ֖יmi.pe.NeiH6440the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and of the kingsוּמַלְכֵ֥יu.mal.KheiH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,which they had madeעָשֽׂוּ׃'a.SuH6213.

9And the childrenבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478did secretlyוַיְחַפְּא֣וּvay.cha.pe.'UH2644thosethingsדְּבָרִים֙de.va.RimH1697that werenot right against the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430,and they builtוַיִּבְנ֨וּvai.yiv.NuH1129them high placesבָּמוֹת֙ba.mOtH1116in all their citiesעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם'a.rei.HemH5892,from the towerמִמִּגְדַּ֥לmi.mig.DalH4026of the watchmenנוֹצְרִ֖יםnotz.RimH5341to the fencedמִבְצָֽר׃miv.TzarH4013cityעִ֥יר'irH5892.

10And they set them upוַיַּצִּ֧בוּvai.ya.Tzi.vuH5324imagesמַצֵּב֖וֹתma.tze.VotH4676and grovesוַאֲשֵׁרִ֑יםva.'a.she.RimH842in every highגְבֹהָ֔הge.vo.HahH1364hillגִּבְעָ֣הgiv.'AhH1389,and under every greenרַעֲנָֽן׃ra.'a.NanH7488treeעֵ֥ץ'etzH6086:

11And there they burnt incenseוַיְקַטְּרוּ־vay.ka.te.ru-H6999in all the high placesבָּמ֔וֹתba.MotH1116, as didthe heathenכַּגּוֹיִ֕םka.go.YimH1471whom the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068carried awayהֶגְלָ֥הheg.LahH1540beforeמִפְּנֵיהֶ֑םmi.pe.nei.HemH6440them; and wroughtוַֽיַּעֲשׂוּ֙vai.ya.'a.SuH6213wickedרָעִ֔יםra.'ImH7451thingsדְּבָרִ֣יםde.va.RimH1697to provoke the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068to angerלְהַכְעִ֖יסle.hakh.'IsH3707:

12For they servedוַיַּֽעַבְד֖וּvai.ya.'av.DuH5647idolsהַגִּלֻּלִ֑יםha.gi.lu.LimH1544,whereof the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068had saidאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559unto them, Ye shall not doתַעֲשׂ֖וּta.'a.SuH6213this thingהַדָּבָ֥רha.da.VarH1697.

13Yet the Lordיְהוָ֡הYah.wehH3068testifiedוַיָּ֣עַדvai.Ya.'adH5749against Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֣לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and against Judahוּבִיהוּדָ֡הu.vi.hu.DahH3063,byבְּיַד֩be.YadH3027all the prophetsנְבִיאֵ֨יne.vi.'ovH5030, and byall the seersחֹזֶ֜הcho.ZehH2374,sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559,Turnשֻׁ֝֠בוּShu.vuH7725ye from your evilהָֽרָעִים֙ha.ra.'ImH7451waysמִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֤םmi.dar.khei.KhemH1870,and keepוְשִׁמְרוּ֙ve.shim.RuH8104my commandmentsמִצְוֹתַ֣יmitz.vo.TaiH4687andmy statutesחֻקּוֹתַ֔יchu.ko.TaiH2708,according to all the lawהַתּוֹרָ֔הha.to.RahH8451which I commandedצִוִּ֖יתִיtzi.Vi.tiH6680your fathersאֲבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם'a.vo.tei.KhemH1,and which I sentשָׁלַ֣חְתִּיsha.Lach.tiH7971to you byבְּיַ֖דbe.YadH3027my servantsעֲבָדַ֥י'a.va.DaiH5650the prophetsהַנְּבִיאִֽים׃ha.ne.vi.'ImH5030.

14Notwithstanding they would not hearשָׁמֵ֑עוּsha.Me.'uH8085,but hardenedוַיַּקְשׁ֤וּvai.yak.ShuH7185their necksעָרְפָּם֙'a.re.PamH6203,like to the neckכְּעֹ֣רֶףke.'O.refH6203of their fathersאֲבוֹתָ֔ם'a.vo.TamH1,that did not believeהֶאֱמִ֔ינוּhe.'e.Mi.nuH539in the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֖הba.Yah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃'e.lo.hei.HemH430.

15And they rejectedוַיִּמְאֲס֣וּvai.yim.'a.SuH3988his statutesחֻקָּ֗יוchu.KavH2706,and his covenantבְּרִיתוֹ֙be.ri.ToH1285that he madeכָּרַ֣תka.RatH3772with their fathersאֲבוֹתָ֔ם'a.vo.TamH1,and his testimoniesעֵֽדְוֹתָ֔יו'e.de.vo.TavH5715which he testifiedהֵעִ֖ידhe.'IdH5749against them; and they followedאַחֲרֵ֤י'a.cha.ReiH310 H3212vanityהַהֶ֙בֶל֙ha.He.velH1892,and became vainוַיֶּהְבָּ֔לוּvai.yeh.Ba.luH1891,and went afterוְאַחֲרֵ֤יve.'a.cha.ReiH310the heathenהַגּוֹיִם֙ha.go.YimH1471that wereround aboutסְבִֽיבֹתָ֔םse.vi.vo.TamH5439them, concerningwhom the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068had chargedצִוָּ֤הtzi.VahH6680them, that they should not doעֲשׂ֥וֹתa.SotH6213like them.

16And they leftוַיַּעַזְב֗וּvai.ya.'az.VuH5800all the commandmentsמִצְוֹת֙mitz.VotH4687of the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶ֔ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430,and madeוַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213them molten imagesמַסֵּכָ֖הma.se.KhahH4541, eventwoשְׁנֵ֣יshe.neimH8147calvesעֲגָלִ֑ים'a.ga.LimH5695,and madeוַיַּעֲשׂ֣וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213a groveאֲשֵׁירָ֗ה'a.shei.RahH842,and worshippedוַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲווּ֙vai.yish.ta.cha.VuH7812all the hostצְבָ֣אtze.Va'H6635of heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064,and servedוַיַּעַבְד֖וּvai.ya.'av.DuH5647Baalהַבָּֽעַל׃ha.Ba.'alH1168.

17And they caused their sonsבְּנֵיהֶ֤םbe.nei.HemH1121and their daughtersבְּנֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙be.no.tei.HemH1323to passוַֽ֠יַּעֲבִירוּVai.ya.'a.vi.ruH5674through the fireבָּאֵ֔שׁba.'EshH784,and usedוַיִּקְסְמ֥וּvai.yik.se.MuH7080divinationקְסָמִ֖יםke.sa.MimH7081and enchantmentsוַיְנַחֵ֑שׁוּvay.na.Che.shuH5172,and soldוַיִּֽתְמַכְּר֗וּvai.yit.ma.ke.RuH4376themselves to doלַעֲשׂ֥וֹתla.'a.SotH6213evilהָרַ֛עha.Ra'H7451in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֥יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,to provoke him to angerלְהַכְעִיסֽוֹ׃le.hakh.'i.SoH3707.

18Therefore the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068was veryמְאֹד֙me.'OdH3966angryוַיִּתְאַנַּ֨ףvai.yit.'a.NafH599with Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and removedוַיְסִרֵ֖םvay.si.RemH5493them out of his sightפָּנָ֑יוpa.NavH6440:there was none leftנִשְׁאַ֔רnish.'ArH7604but the tribeשֵׁ֥בֶטShe.vetH7626of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063only.

19Also Judahיְהוּדָ֕הye.hu.DahH3063keptשָׁמַ֔רsha.MarH8104not the commandmentsמִצְוֹ֖תmitz.VotH4687of the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430,but walkedH3212in the statutesבְּחֻקּ֥וֹתbe.chu.KotH2708of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478which they madeעָשֽׂוּ׃'a.SuH6213.

20And the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068rejectedוַיִּמְאַ֨סvai.yim.'AsH3988all the seedזֶ֤רַעZe.ra'H2233of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and afflictedוַיְעַנֵּ֔םvay.'a.NemH6031them, and deliveredוַֽיִּתְּנֵ֖םvai.yi.te.NemH5414them into the handבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027of spoilersשֹׁסִ֑יםsho.SimH8154,until he had castהִשְׁלִיכָ֖םhish.li.KhamH7993them out of his sightמִפָּנָֽיו׃mi.pa.NavH6440.

21For he rentקָרַ֣עka.Ra'H7167Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478from the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732;and they made Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֣םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nebatנְבָ֑טne.VatH5028kingוַיַּמְלִ֖יכוּvai.yam.Li.khuH4427:and Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֤םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379draveוַיַּדַּ֨חvai.ya.deH5077 H5080Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478from followingמֵאַחֲרֵ֣יme.'a.cha.ReiH310the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,and made them sinוְהֶחֱטֵיאָ֖םve.he.che.tei.'AmH2398a greatגְדוֹלָֽה׃ge.do.LahH1419sinחֲטָאָ֥הcha.ta.'AhH2401.

22For the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478walkedH3212in all the sinsחַטֹּ֥אותcha.TotH2403of Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֖םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379which he didעָשָׂ֑ה'a.SahH6213;they departedסָ֖רוּSa.ruH5493not from them;

23Until the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068removedהֵסִ֨ירhe.SirH5493Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478out of his sightפָּנָ֔יוpa.NavH6440,as he had saidדִּבֶּ֔רdi.BerH1696byבְּיַ֖דbe.YadH3027all his servantsעֲבָדָ֣יו'a.va.DavH5650the prophetsהַנְּבִיאִ֑יםha.ne.vi.'ImH5030.So was Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֜לYis.ra.'ElH3478carried awayוַיִּ֨גֶלvai.Yi.gelH1540out of their own landאַדְמָתוֹ֙'ad.ma.ToH127to Assyriaאַשּׁ֔וּרָה'a.Shu.rahH804unto this dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.

24And the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֡וּר'a.ShurH804broughtוַיָּבֵ֣אvai.ya.Ve'H935menfrom Babylonמִבָּבֶ֡לmi.ba.VelH894,and from Cuthahוּ֠מִכּוּ֠תָהu.Mi.ku.tahH3575,and from Avaוּמֵעַוָּ֤אu.me.'a.Va'H5755,and from Hamathוּמֵֽחֲמָת֙u.me.cha.MatH2574,and from Sepharvaimוּסְפַרְוַ֔יִםu.se.far.Va.yimH5617,and placedוַיֹּ֙שֶׁב֙vai.Yo.shevH3427themin the citiesבְּעָרֵ֣יbe.'a.ReiH5892of Samariaשֹֽׁמְר֔וֹןsho.me.RonH8111instead of the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478:and they possessedוַיִּֽרְשׁוּ֙vai.yir.ShuH3423Samariaשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹןsho.me.RonH8111,and dweltוַיֵּֽשְׁב֖וּvai.ye.she.VuH3427in the citiesבְּעָרֶֽיהָ׃be.'a.Rei.haH5892thereof.

25And soit was at the beginningבִּתְחִלַּת֙bit.chi.LatH8462of their dwellingשִׁבְתָּ֣םshiv.TamH3427there, thatthey fearedיָרְא֖וּya.re.'UH3372not the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068:therefore the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068sentוַיְשַׁלַּ֨חvay.sha.LachH7971lionsהָ֣אֲרָי֔וֹתha.'a.ra.YotH738among them, which slewהֹרְגִ֖יםho.re.GimH2026some of them.

26Wherefore they spakeוַיֹּאמְר֗וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to the kingלְמֶ֣לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁוּר֮'a.ShurH804,sayingלֵאמֹר֒le.MorH559,The nationsהַגּוֹיִ֗םha.go.YimH1471which thou hast removedהִגְלִ֙יתָ֙hig.Li.taH1540,and placedוַתּ֙וֹשֶׁב֙va.To.o.shevH3427in the citiesבְּעָרֵ֣יbe.'a.ReiH5892of Samariaשֹׁמְר֔וֹןsho.me.RonH8111,knowיָֽדְע֔וּya.de.'UH3045not the mannerמִשְׁפַּ֖טmish.PatH4941of the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776:therefore he hath sentוַיְשַׁלַּח־vay.sha.lach-H7971lionsהָאֲרָי֗וֹתha.'a.ra.YotH738among them, and, behold, they slayמְמִיתִ֣יםme.mi.TimH4191them, because they knowיֹדְעִ֔יםyo.de.'ImH3045not the mannerמִשְׁפַּ֖טmish.PatH4941of the Godאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.

27Then the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֜וּר'a.ShurH804commandedוַיְצַ֨וvay.TzavH6680,sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559,CarryH3212thither oneאֶחָ֤ד'e.ChadH259of the priestsמֵהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙me.ha.ko.ha.NimH3548whom ye broughtהִגְלִיתֶ֣םhig.li.TemH1540from thence; and let them goH3212and dwellוְיֵ֣שְׁבוּve.Ye.she.vuH3427there, and let him teachוְיֹרֵ֕םve.yo.RemH3384them the mannerמִשְׁפַּ֖טmish.PatH4941of the Godאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.

28Then oneאֶחָ֣ד'e.ChadH259of the priestsמֵהַכֹּהֲנִ֗יםme.ha.ko.ha.NimH3548whom they had carried awayהִגְלוּ֙hig.LuH1540from Samariaמִשֹּׁ֣מְר֔וֹןmi.Sho.me.RonH8111cameוַיָּבֹ֞אvai.ya.Vo'H935and dweltוַיֵּ֖שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427in Beth–elH1008,and taughtמוֹרֶ֣הmo.RehH3384them how they should fearיִֽירְא֥וּyi.re.'UH3372the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.
