Context of Acts 10:37
35Rather, whoever respects God and does what is right is acceptable to him in any nation. 36God sent his word to the people of Israel and brought them the Good News of peace through Jesus Christ. This Jesus Christ is everyone’s Lord. You know what happened throughout Judea. Everything began in Galilee after John spread the news about baptism. 38You know that God anointed Jesus from Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Jesus went everywhere and did good things, such as healing everyone who was under the devil’s power. Jesus did these things because God was with him. 39We can testify to everything Jesus did in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. People hung him on a cross and killed him,

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 37That word - ye know - This account of Jesus of Nazareth ye cannot be unacquainted with; because it has been proclaimed throughout all Judea and Galilee, from the time that John began to preach. Ye have heard how he was anointed with the Holy Ghost, and of the miracles which he performed; how he went about doing good, and healing all kinds of demoniacs and, by these mighty and beneficent acts, giving the fullest proof that God was with him. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 34-43Verses 34-43 Acceptance cannot be obtained on any other ground than that of the covenant of mercy, through the atonement of Christ; but wherever true religion is found, God will accept it without regarding names or sects. The fear of God and works of righteousness are the substance of true religion, the effects of special grace. Though these are not the cause of a man's acceptance, yet they show it; and whatever may be wanting in knowledge or faith, will…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 36-43Peter often emphasizes the role of the apostles as witnesses to the good news (the message about Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection). He reminds his listeners that they had direct contact with Jesus. The apostles ate and drank with Jesus after he rose from the dead (see Luke 24:41–43). They saw him alive again. Because they were eyewitnesses of his resurrection, they could testify that Jesus had defeated death (see Acts 3:15; 4:33; 13:30–31). Jesus…Read the comment
