Context of Ephesians 3:20
18Then you will understand, with all God's people, how much Christ loves us. That love is very wide and long and high and deep! 19Christ's love for us is so great that nobody can ever completely know it. As you understand this more and more, God's own nature will completely fill you. We praise God, who causes his power to work in us. In that way, he is able to do much more than we could ever ask for. He can do much more than we could even think about. 21We want all God's people to know that God is great! Everyone who belongs to his church and who trusts in Christ Jesus should praise him! We should praise him always and for ever. Amen. That is true!

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 20Now unto him - Having finished his short, but most wonderfully comprehensive and energetic prayer, the apostle brings in his doxology, giving praise to Him from whom all blessings come, and to whom all thanks are due. That is able to do exceeding abundantly - It is impossible to express the full meaning of these words, God is omnipotent, therefore he is able to do all things, and able to do ̔ , superabundantly above the greatest abundance. And who can…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 20Now unto him - It is not uncommon for Paul to utter an ascription of praise in the midst of an argument; see Romans 9:5; Romans 11:36; Galatians 1:5. Here his mind is full of the subject; and in view of the fact that God communicates to his people such blessings - that they may become filled with all his fulness, he desires that praise should be given to him. That is able to do - see the notes, Romans 16:25. Exceeding abundantly - The compound word used…Read the comment

Let us expect more, and ask for more, encouraged by what Christ has already done for our souls, being assured that the conversion of sinners, and the comfort of believers, will be to his glory, for ever and ever.Read the comment

With that power, God can do much more than we ask or imagine, as God works in the lives of his children (see Romans 8:31–39; Philippians 4:13; Colossians 1:29).Read the comment
