Context of 1 Corinthians 10:1
My Christian friends, remember what happened to our Israelite ancestors. Moses led them out of Egypt long ago. While they followed Moses, they all walked under the same cloud. All of them walked across the Red Sea. 2It is like God baptized all of them in the cloud and in the sea. In that way, they became people who followed Moses. 3All our ancestors ate the same spiritual food.

This shows that Abraham is like a father to everyone that God has accepted. Like Abraham, God has accepted them because they have believed in him. It is not important that nobody has circumcised them.

Commentaries on 1 Corinthians 10:1
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 1I would not that ye should be ignorant - It seems as if the Corinthians had supposed that their being made partakers of the ordinances of the Gospel, such as baptism and the Lord's Supper, would secure their salvation, notwithstanding they might be found partaking of idolatrous feasts; as long, at least, as they considered an idol to be nothing in the world. To remove this destructive supposition, which would have led them to endless errors both in…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 1Moreover, brethren - But, or now ( de). This verse, with the following illustrations 1 Corinthians 10:1-4, is properly connected in Paul‘s argument with the statements which he had made in 1 Corinthians 8:8, etc., and is designed to show the danger which would result from their partaking of the feasts that were celebrated in honor of idols. It is not improbable, as Mr. Locke supposes, that the Corinthians might have urged that they were constantly…Read the comment
