Context of Luke 24:5
3They went in but did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men stood by them in dazzling clothes. So the women were terrified and bowed down to the ground. “Why are you looking for the living among the dead?” asked the men. 6“He is not here, but he has risen! Remember how he spoke to you when he was still in Galilee, 7saying, ‘It is necessary that the Son of Man be betrayed into the hands of sinful men, be crucified, and rise on the third day’?”

Commentaries on Luke 24:5
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 5Why seek ye the living among the dead? - This was a common form of speech among the Jews, and seems to be applied to those who were foolishly, impertinently, or absurdly employed. As places of burial were unclean, it was not reasonable to suppose that the living should frequent them; or that if any was missing he was likely to be found in such places.Read the comment

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1-12(See on Mr 16:1-8; and Mt 28:1-5). 5. Why, &c.--Astonishing question! not "the risen," but "the Living One" (compare Re 1:18); and the surprise expressed in it implies an incongruity in His being there at all, as if, though He might submit to it, "it was impossible He should be holden of it" (Ac 2:24).Read the comment
