Context of Acts 16:6
4As they were traveling through the cities, they were handing down the rulings that had been decided upon by the emissaries and elders in Jerusalem, for them to keep. 5So Messiah’s communities were strengthened in the faith and kept increasing daily in number. They went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Ruach ha-Kodesh to speak the word in Asia. 7When they came to Mysia, they were trying to proceed into Bithynia, but the Ruach of Yeshua would not allow them. 8So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6Were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia - The Asia mentioned here could not be Asia Minor in general, for Galatia, Phrygia, Pisidia, Lycaonia, and Pamphylia, were provinces of it, and in these the apostles preached; but it was what was called Proconsular Asia, which included only Ionia, Aeolia, and Lydia. The apostles were not suffered to visit these places at this time; but they afterwards went thither, and preached the Gospel with…Read the comment

It had Bithynia north; Pisidia and Lycia south; Galatia and Cappadocia east; and Lydia and Mysia west. And the region of Galatia - This province was directly east of Phrygia. The region was formerly conquered by the Gauls. They settled in it, and called it, after their own name, Galatia. The Gauls invaded the country at different times, and no less than three tribes or bodies of Gauls had…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 6-15Verses 6-15 The removals of ministers, and the dispensing the means of grace by them, are in particular under Divine conduct and direction. We must follow Providence: and whatever we seek to do, if that suffer us not, we ought to submit and believe to be for the best. People greatly need help for their souls, it is their duty to look out for it, and to invite those among them who can help them. And God's calls must be complied with readily. In the book of Acts, God's Spirit guided his servants in many ways, including: through visions from God (see also 9:10; 10:9–16; 22:18), direct intuition (compare 8:29, 39…Read the comment
