Context of Acts 10:19
17Now while Peter was puzzling about what the vision he had seen might mean, behold, the men sent by Cornelius found Simon’s house and appeared before the gate. 18They called out and began to ask whether Simon, also called Peter, was staying in this place as a guest. Now while Peter was mulling over the vision, the Ruach said to him, “Look here, three men are looking for you. 20But get up, go downstairs, and go with them without hesitating, because I Myself have sent them.” 21Going down to the men, Peter said, “Here, I’m the one you’re looking for. What is the reason for your coming?”

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 19-33Verses 19-33 When we see our call clear to any service, we should not be perplexed with doubts and scruples arising from prejudices or former ideas. Cornelius had called together his friends, to partake with him of the heavenly wisdom he expected from Peter. We should not covet to eat our spiritual morsels alone. It ought to be both given and taken as kindness and respect to our kindred and friends, to invite them to join us in religious exercises…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 17-2417-24. while Peter doubted ... what this should mean, behold, the three men ... stood before the gate ... and asked--"were inquiring," that is, in the act of doing so. The preparations here made--of Peter for his Gentile visitors, as of Cornelius for him--are devoutly to be noted. But besides this, at the same moment, "the Spirit" expressly informs him that three men were inquiring for him, and bids him unhesitatingly go with them, as sent by Him.Read the comment
