Joshua 8:2-22

2And thou shalt doH6213 to AiH5857 and herH7760 kingH4428 as thou didst unto JerichoH3405 and herH7760 kingH4428: onlyH7535 the spoilH7998 thereof, and the cattleH929 thereof, shall ye takeH7760 for a preyH962 unto yourselves: setH7760 thee an ambushH693 for the cityH5892 behindH310 it.

3SoH7971 JoshuaH3091 aroseH6965, and allH3605 the peopleH5971 of warH4421, to goH5927 upH5927 to AiH5857: and JoshuaH3091 choseH977 outH7971 thirtyH7970 thousandH505 menH376, the mightyH1368 menH376 of valour, and sentH7971 them forthH7971 by nightH3915.

4And he commandedH6680 them, sayingH559, BeholdH7200, ye shall lieH693 in ambushH693 againstH4480 the cityH5892, behindH310 the cityH5892: goH1961 notH408 veryH3966 farH7368 from the cityH5892, but be ye allH3605 readyH3559:

5and I, and allH3605 the peopleH5971 that are with meH413, will approachH7126 unto the cityH5892: and it shall comeH1961 to passH1961, when they comeH1961 outH3318 againstH413 usH413, as at the firstH7223, that weH3588 will fleeH5127 beforeH6440 them;

6and they will comeH3318 outH3318 afterH310 usH3588, tillH5704 weH3588 have drawnH5423 them awayH310 from the cityH5892; for they will sayH559, They fleeH5127 beforeH6440 usH3588, as at the firstH7223; soH4480 weH3588 will fleeH5127 beforeH6440 them:

7and ye shall riseH6965 upH6965 from the ambushH693, and takeH3423 possessionH3423 of the cityH5892: for the LORDH3068 your GodH430 will deliverH5414 it intoH3027 your handH3027.

8And it shall be, when ye have seizedH8610 uponH1961 the cityH5892, that ye shall setH3341 the cityH5892 on fireH784; according to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 shall ye doH6213: seeH7200, I have commandedH6680 youH6680.

9And JoshuaH3091 sentH7971 them forthH7971: and they wentH413 to the ambushment, and abodeH3427 betweenH996 Beth-el and AiH5857, on the westH3220 sideH3220 of AiH5857: but JoshuaH3091 lodged that nightH3915 among the peopleH5971.

10And JoshuaH3091 roseH7925 upH5927 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and musteredH6485 the peopleH5971, and wentH5927 upH5927, he and the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478, beforeH6440 the peopleH5971 to AiH5857.

11And allH3605 the peopleH5971, even the menH5971 of warH4421 that were with him, wentH935 upH5927, and drewH5066 nigh, and cameH935 beforeH5048 the cityH5892, and pitchedH2583 on the northH6828 sideH6828 of AiH5857: nowH935 there was a valleyH1516 betweenH996 him and AiH5857.

12And he tookH3947 aboutH3947 fiveH2568 thousandH505 menH376, and setH7760 them in ambushH693 betweenH996 Beth-el and AiH5857, on the westH3220 sideH3220 of the cityH5892.

13SoH834 they setH7760 the peopleH5971, evenH853 allH3605 the hostH4264 that was on the northH6828 of the cityH5892, and their liers in wait that were on the westH3220 of the cityH5892; and JoshuaH3091 went that nightH3915 intoH8432 the midstH8432 of the vale.

14And it cameH1961 to passH1961, when the kingH4428 of AiH5857 sawH7200 it, that they hasted and roseH7925 upH7200 earlyH7925, and the menH376 of the cityH5892 wentH3318 outH3318 againstH6440 IsraelH3478 to battleH4421, he and allH3605 his peopleH5971, at the time appointedH4150, beforeH6440 the ArabahH6160; but he wist notH3808 that there was an ambushH693 againstH6440 him behindH310 the cityH5892.

15And JoshuaH3091 and allH3605 IsraelH3478 madeH3605 as if they were beatenH5060 beforeH6440 them, and fledH5127 by the wayH1870 of the wildernessH4057.

16And allH3605 the peopleH5971 that were in the cityH5892 were calledH2199 togetherH2199 to pursueH7291 afterH310 them: and they pursuedH7291 afterH310 JoshuaH3091, and were drawnH5423 awayH310 from the cityH5892.

17And there was notH3808 a manH376 leftH7604 in AiH5857 or Beth-el, that wentH3318 notH3808 outH3318 afterH310 IsraelH3478: and they leftH7604 the cityH5892 openH6605, and pursuedH7291 afterH310 IsraelH3478.

18And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto JoshuaH3091, StretchH5186 outH5186 the javelinH3591 that is in thy handH3027 towardH413 AiH5857; for I will giveH5414 it intoH413 thine handH3027. And JoshuaH3091 stretchedH5186 outH5186 the javelinH3591 that was in his handH3027 towardH413 the cityH5892.

19And the ambushH693 aroseH6965 quicklyH4116 outH5186 of their placeH4725, and they ranH7323 as soonH4116 as he had stretchedH5186 outH5186 his handH3027, and enteredH935 intoH935 the cityH5892, and tookH3920 it; and they hasted and setH6965 the cityH5892 on fireH784.

20And when the menH376 of AiH5857 lookedH7200 behindH310 them, they sawH7200, and, beholdH2009, the smokeH6227 of the cityH5892 ascendedH5927 upH5927 to heavenH8064, and they had noH3808 powerH3027 to fleeH5127 this wayH2008 or that wayH2008: and the peopleH5971 that fledH5127 to the wildernessH4057 turnedH6437 backH6437 uponH1961 the pursuersH7291.

21And when JoshuaH3091 and allH3605 IsraelH3478 sawH7200 that the ambushH693 had takenH3920 the cityH5892, and that the smokeH6227 of the cityH5892 ascendedH5927, then they turnedH7725 againH7725, and slewH5221 the menH376 of AiH5857.

22And the otherH2088 cameH1961 forthH3318 outH3318 of the cityH5892 againstH4480 them; soH4480 they were in the midstH8432 of IsraelH3478, someH4480 on this sideH2088, and someH4480 on that sideH2088: and they smoteH5221 them, soH4480 that they letH1961 noneH4480 of them remainH7604 or escapeH3318.
