Revised Version 1895
Chronicles 21:9-19
And the LORDH3068 spake unto GadH1410, David’sH1732 seerH2374, sayingH559,
Go and speakH1696 unto DavidH1732, sayingH559, ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, I offerH6213 thee threeH7969 things; chooseH977 thee one of them, that I may doH6213 it unto thee.
SoH3541 GadH1410 cameH935 to DavidH1732, and saidH559 unto him, ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, TakeH935 which thou wilt;
eitherH518 threeH7969 yearsH8141 of famineH7458; or threeH7969 monthsH2320 to be consumed beforeH6440 thy foes, whileH3117 that the swordH2719 of thine enemiesH341 overtaketh thee; or elseH3605 threeH7969 daysH3117 the swordH2719 of the LORDH3068, evenH518 pestilenceH1698 in the landH776, and the angelH4397 of the LORDH3068 destroyingH7843 throughoutH3605 allH3605 the coasts of IsraelH3478. NowH6258 therefore considerH7200 whatH4100 answerH7725 I shall returnH7725 to him that sentH7971 meH7971.
And DavidH1732 saidH559 unto GadH1410, I am in a greatH3966 strait: letH4994 meH413 fallH5307 nowH4994 intoH413 the handH3027 of the LORDH3068; for veryH3966 greatH3966 are his merciesH7356: and letH4994 meH413 notH408 fallH5307 intoH413 the handH3027 of manH120.
SoH5414 the LORDH3068 sentH5414 a pestilenceH1698 uponH5307 IsraelH3478: and there fellH5307 of IsraelH3478 seventyH7657 thousandH505 menH376.
And GodH430 sentH7971 an angelH4397 unto JerusalemH3389 to destroyH7843 it: and as he was aboutH5921 to destroyH7843, the LORDH3068 beheld, and he repentedH5162 him of the evilH7451, and saidH559 to the destroyingH7843 angelH4397, It is enoughH7227; nowH6258 stayH5975 thine handH3027. And the angelH4397 of the LORDH3068 stoodH5975 by the threshing-floor of OrnanH771 the JebusiteH2983.
And DavidH1732 liftedH5375 upH5375 his eyesH5869, and sawH7200 the angelH4397 of the LORDH3068 standH5975 betweenH996 the earthH776 and the heavenH8064, having a drawnH8025 swordH2719 in his handH3027 stretchedH5186 outH5186 everH5375 JerusalemH3389. Then DavidH1732 and the eldersH2205, clothedH3680 in sackclothH8242, fellH5307 uponH5921 their facesH6440.
And DavidH1732 saidH559 unto GodH430, Is it notH3808 I that commandedH559 the peopleH5971 to be numberedH4487? evenH3808 I it is that have sinnedH2398 and doneH6213 very wickedly; but theseH428 sheepH6629, whatH4100 have they doneH6213? letH4994 thine handH3027, I prayH4994 thee, O LORDH3068 my GodH430, be againstH413 meH413, and againstH413 my father’sH1 houseH1004; but notH3808 againstH413 thy peopleH5971, that they should be plaguedH4046.
Then the angelH4397 of the LORDH3068 commandedH559 GadH1410 to sayH559 to DavidH1732, that DavidH1732 should goH5927 upH5927, and rear an altarH4196 unto the LORDH3068 in the threshing-floor of OrnanH771 the JebusiteH2983.
And DavidH1732 wentH5927 upH5927 at the sayingH1697 of GadH1410, whichH834 he spake in the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068.
