Revised Version 1895
Chronicles 11:10-46
Now theseH428 are the chiefH7218 of the mightyH1368 menH1368 whomH834 DavidH1732 had, who shewed themselvesH428 strongH2388 with him in his kingdomH4438, togetherH5973 with allH3605 IsraelH3478, to makeH2388 him kingH4427, accordingH5921 to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 concerning IsraelH3478.
And this is the numberH4557 of the mightyH1368 menH1368 whomH834 DavidH1732 had: JashobeamH3434, the sonH1121 of a HachmoniteH2453, the chiefH7218 of the thirtyH7970; he liftedH5782 upH5921 his spearH2595 againstH5921 threeH7969 hundredH3967 and slew them at one time.
And afterH310 him was EleazarH499 the sonH1121 of DodoH1734, the AhohiteH266, who was one of the threeH7969 mightyH1368 menH1368.
He was with DavidH1732 at PasdammimH6450, and there the PhilistinesH6430 were gatheredH622 togetherH622 to battleH4421, whereH8033 was a plotH2513 of groundH7704 fullH4392 of barleyH8184; and the peopleH5971 fledH5127 from beforeH6440 the PhilistinesH6430.
And they stoodH3320 in the midstH8432 of the plotH2513, and defendedH5337 it, and slewH5221 the PhilistinesH6430; and the LORDH3068 savedH3467 them by a greatH1419 victoryH8668.
And threeH7969 of the thirtyH7970 chiefH7218 wentH3381 downH3381 to the rockH6697 to DavidH1732, intoH413 the caveH4631 of AdullamH5725; and the hostH4264 of the PhilistinesH6430 were encampedH2583 in the valleyH6010 of RephaimH7497.
And DavidH1732 was then in the hold, and the garrisonH5333 of the PhilistinesH6430 was then in Beth-lehem.
And DavidH1732 longedH183, and saidH559, OhH4310 that one would giveH8248 meH8248 waterH4325 to drinkH8248 of the wellH834 of Beth-lehem, whichH834 is by the gateH8179!
And the threeH7969 brake throughH935 the hostH4264 of the PhilistinesH6430, and drewH7579 waterH4325 outH413 of the wellH834 of Beth-lehem, that was by the gateH8179, and tookH5375 it, and broughtH935 it to DavidH1732: but DavidH1732 would notH3808 drinkH8354 thereof, but poured it outH413 unto the LORDH3068,
and saidH559, My GodH430 forbidH2486 it meH5315, that I should doH6213 this: shall I drinkH8354 the bloodH1818 of theseH428 menH376 that have putH935 their livesH5315 in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their livesH5315 they broughtH935 it. Therefore he would notH3808 drinkH8354 it. TheseH428 things didH6213 the threeH7969 mightyH1368 menH376.
And AbishaiH52, the brotherH251 of JoabH3097, he was chiefH7218 of the threeH7969: for he liftedH5782 upH5921 his spearH2595 againstH5921 threeH7969 hundredH3967 and slew them, and had a nameH8034 among the threeH7969.
Of the threeH7969, he was moreH4480 honourable thanH4480 the twoH8147 and was madeH3513 their captainH8269: howbeit he attained notH3808 to the first threeH7969.
BenaiahH1141 the sonH1121 of JehoiadaH3077, the sonH1121 of a valiantH2428 manH376 of KabzeelH6909, who had doneH6467 mightyH2428 deedsH6467, he slewH5221 the twoH8147 sonsH1121 of ArielH739 of MoabH4124: he wentH3381 downH3381 also and slewH5221 a lionH738 in the midstH8432 of a pitH953 in time of snowH7950.
And he slewH2026 an EgyptianH4713, a manH376 of great stature, fiveH2568 cubitsH520 high; and in the Egyptian’sH4713 handH3027 was a spearH2595 like a weaver’sH707 beamH4500; and he wentH3381 downH3381 to him with a staffH7626, and plucked the spearH2595 outH413 of the Egyptian’sH4713 handH3027, and slewH2026 him with his ownH376 spearH2595.
TheseH428 things didH6213 BenaiahH1141 the sonH1121 of JehoiadaH3077, and had a nameH8034 among the threeH7969 mightyH1368 menH1368.
BeholdH2005, he was moreH4480 honourable thanH4480 the thirtyH7970, but he attained notH3808 to the first threeH7969: and DavidH1732 setH7760 him over his guardH4928.
