Context of Mark 5:7
5Day and night he wandered among the burial caves and in the hills, howling and cutting himself with sharp stones. 6When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw him, ran to meet him, and bowed low before him. With a shriek, he screamed, “Why are you interfering with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In the name of God, I beg you, don’t torture me!” 8For Jesus had already said to the spirit, “Come out of the man, you evil spirit.” 9Then Jesus demanded, “What is your name?” And he replied, “My name is Legion, because there are many of us inside this man.”

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 6-8Despite the man's terrible condition, the arrival of Jesus gave him hope. He ran and knelt before Jesus, asking for help. Son of the Most High God: Evil spirits know who Jesus really is (1:24, 34; 3:11). There was no struggle. Jesus was in control, and the unclean spirit obeyed him. - Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 77. What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not--or, as in Mt 8:29, "Art Thou come to torment us before the time?" (See on Mr 1:24). Behold the tormentor anticipating, dreading, and entreating exemption from torment! In Christ they discern their destined Tormentor; the time, they know, is fixed, and they feel as if it were come already! (Jas 2:19).Read the comment
