Context of John 2:10
8he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions. 9When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!” 11This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him. 12After the wedding he went to Capernaum for a few days with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples.

It may mean when they have drunk sufficient, or to satiety; or have drunk so much as to produce hilarity, and to destroy the keenness of their taste, so that they could not readily distinguish the good from that which was worse. But this cannot be adduced in favor of…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 9-10The master of the banquet repeated a common saying. Normally, the best wine was served first, when people could taste it most clearly. Later, wine of lower quality was served. But this time it was different. The wine Jesus made, served last, was the best of all. In the Old Testament, good wine was a sign of God’s blessing(Amos 9:13–14). This miracle showed that the Messiah, God’s greatest blessing, had now come.Read the comment
