Context of John 2:10
8Then he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the headwaiter.” And they did. 9When the headwaiter tasted the water (after it had become wine), he did not know where it came from — though the servants who had drawn the water knew. He called the groom and told him, “Everyone sets out the fine wine first, then, after people are drunk, the inferior. But you have kept the fine wine until now.” 11Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him. 12After this, he went down to Capernaum, together with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples, and they stayed there only a few days.

But this cannot be adduced in favor of…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 9-10The master of the banquet repeated a common saying. Normally, the best wine was served first, when people could taste it most clearly. Later, wine of lower quality was served. But this time it was different. The wine Jesus made, served last, was the best of all. In the Old Testament, good wine was a sign of God’s blessing(Amos 9:13–14). This miracle showed that the Messiah, God’s greatest blessing, had now come.Read the comment
