6Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

Context of Revelation 5:6
4I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. 8And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.

Commentaries on Revelation 5:6
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6Stood a Lamb - Christ, so called because he was a sacrificial offering; signifies a little or delicate lamb. As it had been slain - As if now in the act of being offered. This is very remarkable; so important is the sacrificial offering of Christ in the sight of God that he is still represented as being in the very act of pouring out his blood for the offenses of man. This gives great advantage to faith: when any soul comes to the throne of grace, he…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 6And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne - We are not to suppose that he was in the center of the throne itself, but he was a conspicuous object when the throne and the elders and the living beings were seen. He was so placed as to seem to be in the midst of the group made up of the throne, the living beings, and the elders. And of the four beasts - See the notes at Revelation 4:6. Stood a Lamb - An appellation often given to the Messiah, for two…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 6The Jews expected the Messiah, God's chosen one, to appear as a powerful lion. Instead, Jesus came as a lamb (John 1:29, 36; Acts 8:32–35; 1 Corinthians 5:7; 1 Peter 1:19). The lamb, once slaughtered but now standing, symbolizes the death and resurrection of Jesus. The Lamb’s seven horns are a symbol of his complete power, and the seven eyes are a symbol of his complete knowledge (see Zechariah 4:10). He is also fully connected to the perfect spirit of…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 66. I beheld, and, lo--One oldest manuscript, A, omits "and, lo." Another, B, Cyprian, &c., support, "and, lo," but omit, "and I beheld." in the midst of the throne--that is, not on the throne (compare Re 5:7), but in the midst of the company (Re 4:4) which was "round about the throne." Lamb--Greek, "arnion"; always found in Revelation exclusively, except in Joh 21:15 alone: it expresses endearment, namely, the endearing relation in which Christ now stands…Read the comment
