Context of Revelation 22:12
10Then he said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy contained in this book, because the time is near. 11The evildoer must continue to do evil, and the one who is morally filthy must continue to be filthy. The one who is righteous must continue to act righteously, and the one who is holy must continue to be holy.” (Look! I am coming soon, and my reward is with me to pay each one according to what he has done! 13I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end!) 14Blessed are those who wash their robes so they can have access to the tree of life and can enter into the city by the gates.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 12And behold, I come quickly - See the notes on Revelation 1:1, Revelation 1:3. These are undoubtedly the words of the Redeemer; and the meaning is, that the period when the unchanging sentence would be passed on each individual - on the unjust, the filthy, the righteous, and the holy - would not be remote. The design of this seems to be to impress on the mind the solemnity of the truth that the condition hereafter will soon be fixed, and to lead people to…Read the comment

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 12Christ is coming soon to repay everyone, not just based on their faith, but according to their actions (see Revelation 2:23; 11:18; 14:13; 20:12–13; see also Proverbs 24:12; Matthew 16:27; 2 Corinthians 5:10).
