1When Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478wasa childנַ֥עַרNa.'arH5288,then I lovedוָאֹהֲבֵ֑הוּva.'o.ha.Ve.huH157him, and calledקָרָ֥אתִיka.Ra.tiH7121my sonלִבְנִֽי׃liv.NiH1121out of Egyptוּמִמִּצְרַ֖יִםu.mi.mitz.Ra.yimH4714.

2Asthey calledקָרְא֖וּka.re.'UH7121them, so they wentהָלְכ֣וּha.le.KhuH1980from themמִפְּנֵיהֶ֔םmi.pe.nei.HemH6440:they sacrificedיְזַבֵּ֔חוּye.za.Be.chuH2076unto Baalimלַבְּעָלִ֣יםla.be.'a.LimH1168,and burned incenseיְקַטֵּרֽוּן׃ye.ka.te.RunH6999to graven imagesוְלַפְּסִלִ֖יםve.la.pe.si.LimH6456.

3I taughtH8637Ephraimלְאֶפְרַ֔יִםle.'ef.Ra.yimH669also to goH8637,takingקָחָ֖םka.ChamH3947them by their armsזְרֽוֹעֹתָ֑יוze.ro.'o.TavH2220;but they knewיָדְע֖וּya.de.'UH3045not that I healedרְפָאתִֽים׃re.fa.TimH7495them.

4I drewאֶמְשְׁכֵם֙'em.she.KhemH4900them with cordsבְּחַבְלֵ֨יbe.chav.LeiH2256of a manאָדָ֤ם'a.DamH120,with bandsבַּעֲבֹת֣וֹתba.'a.vo.TotH5688of loveאַהֲבָ֔ה'a.ha.VahH160:and I was to them as they that take offכִּמְרִ֥ימֵיkim.Ri.meiH7311the yokeעֹ֖ל'olH5923on their jawsלְחֵיהֶ֑םle.chei.HemH3895,and I laidוְאַ֥טve.'AtH5186meatאוֹכִֽיל׃'o.KhilH398unto them.

5He shall not returnיָשׁוּב֙ya.ShuvH7725into the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,but the Assyrianוְאַשּׁ֖וּרve.'a.ShurH804shall be his kingמַלְכּ֑וֹmal.KoH4428,because they refusedמֵאֲנ֖וּme.'a.NuH3985to returnלָשֽׁוּב׃la.ShuvH7725.

6And the swordחֶ֙רֶב֙che.revH2719shall abideוְחָלָ֥הve.cha.LahH2342on his citiesבְּעָרָ֔יוbe.'a.RavH5892,and shall consumeוְכִלְּתָ֥הve.khi.le.TahH3615his branchesH905,and devourוְאָכָ֑לָהve.'a.Kha.lahH398them,because of their own counselsמִֽמֹּעֲצ֖וֹתֵיהֶֽם׃mi.mo.'a.Tzo.tei.HemH4156.

7And my peopleוְעַמִּ֥יve.'a.MiH5971are bentתְלוּאִ֖יםte.lu.'ImH8511to backslidingלִמְשֽׁוּבָתִ֑יlim.shu.va.TiH4878from me: though they calledיִקְרָאֻ֔הוּyik.ra.'U.huH7121them to the most Highעַל֙'alH5920,none at allיַ֖חַדYa.chadH3162would exaltיְרוֹמֵם׃ye.ro.memH7311him.

8How shall I give thee upאֶתֶּנְךָ֣'e.ten.KhaH5414,Ephraimאֶפְרַ֗יִם'ef.Ra.yimH669? howshall I deliverאֲמַגֶּנְךָ֙'a.ma.gen.KhaH4042thee, Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478?how shall I makeאֶתֶּנְךָ֣'e.ten.KhaH5414thee as Admahכְאַדְמָ֔הkhe.'ad.MahH126? howshall I setאֲשִֽׂימְךָ֖'a.si.me.KhaH7760thee as Zeboimכִּצְבֹאיִ֑םkitz.vo.YimH6636?mine heartלִבִּ֔יli.BiH3820is turnedנֶהְפַּ֤ךְneh.PakhH2015within me, my repentingsנִחוּמָֽי׃ni.chu.MaiH5150are kindledנִכְמְר֥וּnikh.me.RuH3648togetherיַ֖חַדYa.chadH3162.
