1There isיֵ֣שׁyeshH3426an evilרָעָ֔הra.'AhH7451which I have seenרָאִ֖יתִיra.'I.tiH7200under the sunהַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁha.Sha.meshH8121, and it iscommonוְרַבָּ֥הve.ra.BahH7227among menהָאָדָֽם׃ha.'a.DamH120:

2A manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376to whom Godהָאֱלֹהִ֡יםha.'E.lo.HimH430hath givenיִתֶּן־yi.ten-H5414richesעֹשֶׁר֩'o.SherH6239,wealthוּנְכָסִ֨יםu.ne.kha.SimH5233,and honourוְכָב֜וֹדve.kha.VodH3519,so that he wantethחָסֵ֥רcha.SerH2638nothing for his soulלְנַפְשׁ֣וֹ׀le.naf.ShoH5315of all that he desirethיִתְאַוֶּ֗הyit.'a.VehH183,yet Godהָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ha.'E.lo.HimH430giveth him not powerיַשְׁלִיטֶ֤נּוּyash.li.Te.nuH7980to eatלֶאֱכֹ֣לle.'e.KholH398thereof, but a strangerאִ֥ישׁ נָכְרִ֖י'ish na.khe.RiH5237 H376eatethיֹֽאכֲלֶ֑נּוּyo.kha.Le.nuH398it: this isvanityהֶ֛בֶלHe.velH1892, and it isan evilרָ֖עra'H7451diseaseוָחֳלִ֥יvo.cho.LiH2483.

3If a manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376begetיוֹלִ֣ידyo.LidH3205an hundredמֵאָ֡הme.'AhH3967children,and liveיִֽחְיֶ֜הyich.YehH2421manyרַבּ֨וֹתra.BotH7227yearsוְשָׁנִים֩ve.sha.NimH8141,so that the daysיְמֵֽי־ye.mei-H3117of his yearsשָׁנָ֗יוsha.NavH8141be manyוְרַ֣ב׀ve.RavH7227,and his soulוְנַפְשׁוֹ֙ve.naf.ShoH5315be not filledתִשְׂבַּ֣עtis.Ba'H7646with goodהַטּוֹבָ֔הha.to.VahH2896, and also thathe have no burialקְבוּרָ֖הke.vu.RahH6900;I sayאָמַ֕רְתִּי'a.Mar.tiH559, thatan untimely birthהַנָּֽפֶל׃ha.Na.felH5309isbetterט֥וֹבTovH2896than he.

4For he comethבָּ֖אba'H935in with vanityבַהֶ֥בֶלva.He.velH1892,and departethH3212in darknessוּבַחֹ֣שֶׁךְu.va.Cho.shekhH2822,and his nameשְׁמ֥וֹshe.MoH8034shall be coveredיְכֻסֶּֽה׃ye.khu.SehH3680with darknessוּבַחֹ֖שֶׁךְu.va.Cho.shekhH2822.

5Moreover he hath not seenרָאָ֖הra.'AhH7200the sunשֶׁ֥מֶשׁShe.meshH8121,nor knownיָדָ֑עya.Da'H3045any thing:thisלָזֶ֖הla.ZehH2088hath more restנַ֥חַתNa.chatH5183thanמִזֶּֽה׃mi.ZehH2088the other.

6Yea, thoughוְאִלּ֣וּve.'i.LuH432he liveחָיָ֗הcha.YahH2421a thousandאֶ֤לֶף'E.lefH505yearsשָׁנִים֙sha.NimH8141twiceפַּעֲמַ֔יִםpa.'a.Ma.yimH6471told,yet hath he seenרָאָ֑הra.'AhH7200no goodוְטוֹבָ֖הve.to.VahH2896:do not all goהוֹלֵֽךְ׃ho.LekhH1980to oneאֶחָ֖ד'e.ChadH259placeמָק֥וֹםma.KomH4725?

7All the labourעֲמַ֥ל'a.MalH5999of manהָאָדָ֖םha.'a.DamH120isfor his mouthלְפִ֑יהוּle.Fi.huH6310,and yet the appetiteהַנֶּ֖פֶשׁha.Ne.feshH5315is not filledתִמָּלֵֽא׃ti.ma.Le'H4390.

8For what hath the wiseלֶחָכָ֖םle.cha.KhamH2450moreיּוֹתֵ֥רyo.TerH3148than the foolהַכְּסִ֑ילha.ke.SilH3684?what hath the poorלֶּעָנִ֣יle.'a.NiH6041,that knowethיוֹדֵ֔עַyo.De.a'H3045to walkלַהֲלֹ֖ךְla.ha.LokhH1980before the livingהַחַיִּֽים׃ha.chai.YimH2416?

9Betterט֛וֹבTovH2896isthe sightמַרְאֵ֥הmar.'EhH4758of the eyesעֵינַ֖יִם'ei.Na.yimH5869than the wanderingמֵֽהֲלָךְ־me.ha.lokh-H1980of the desireנָ֑פֶשׁNa.feshH5315: this isalso vanityהֶ֖בֶלHe.velH1892and vexationוּרְע֥וּתu.re.'UtH7469of spiritרֽוּחַ׃Ru.achH7307.

10That which hath been is namedנִקְרָ֣א שְׁמ֔וֹnik.Ra' she.MoH8034 H7121alreadyכְּבָר֙ke.VarH3528,and it is knownוְנוֹדָ֖עve.no.Da'H3045that it ismanאָדָ֑ם'a.DamH120:neither mayיוּכַ֣לyu.KhalH3201he contendלָדִ֔יןla.DinH1777with him that is mightierשֶׁתַּקִּ֖יףshe.hat.kifH8623than he.
