Context of Luke 1:44
42She spoke to Mary in a loud voice, ‘God has made you very happy. He has been good and kind to you more than to other women. He has also been good and kind to your baby. 43You are the mother of my Lord and I am not an important person. So it is very good that you have visited me. Listen! When I heard you say, “Hello” to me, my baby moved quickly inside me. He was very happy. 45The Lord has told you what will happen. And you believed what he told you. Because of that, God has made you a happy person.’ 46Then Mary said, ‘All of me wants to praise God and say, “Lord, how good and great you are!”

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 39-56Verses 39-56 It is very good for those who have the work of grace begun in their souls, to communicate one to another. On Mary's arrival, Elisabeth was conscious of the approach of her who was to be the mother of the great Redeemer. At the same time she was filled with the Holy Ghost, and under his influence declared that Mary and her expected child were most blessed and happy, as peculiarly honoured of and dear to the Most High God. Mary, animated by…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 42-4442-44. What beautiful superiority to envy have we here! "Turn this as we will, we shall never be able to see the propriety of calling an unborn…Read the comment
