Context of Luke 22:27
25Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles have absolute power and lord it over them; and those in authority over them are called ‘Benefactors.’ 26But it is not to be this way with you; on the contrary, the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest [and least privileged], and the [one who is the] leader, like the servant. For who is the greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves. 28“You are those who have remained and have stood by Me in My trials; 29and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you [the privilege]

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 21-38Verses 21-38 How unbecoming is the worldly ambition of being the greatest, to the character of a follower of Jesus, who took upon him the form of a servant, and humbled himself to the death of the cross! In the way to eternal happiness, we must expect to be assaulted and sifted by Satan. If he cannot destroy, he will try to disgrace or distress us. Nothing more certainly forebodes a fall, in a professed follower of Christ, than self-confidence, with…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 27I am among you as one who serves: Jesus defined true leadership as serving others. This means meeting the needs of others and empowering them to be all that God has called them to be (see Mark 10:45). This idea was surprising in a culture where status and power were important.Read the comment
